I like the standard Crassus as well.

I like it, but I like the gorgon equally, and would be unlikely to chase both.

The Crassus is up on Forge World's site now and the new photos do make it look better.

Troop capacity of 30, I thought the interior looked smaller.

So yeah, the experimental rules make me ask why one would take this over a Gorgon at Epic scale.

2DC
Baneblade-level armor
Transport capacity 30
4 Heavy Bolters

I'd do a "counts as" Gorgon if GW made one in 6mm. Just sayin'.

How many DC does a 40k Gorgon have? 2, right?

3, it's quite a bit bigger.

With a speed of 25cm, I could see the Crassus as having a niche in a list somewhere.

No - a Gorgon is DC 3 in both Epic and W40.

These would be DC 2 transports. 30 would equate to a capacity to carry 6 stands but I'd be tempted to slightly bump that up to 7 stands in the epic stats, so that two of them could carry a standard IG company.

To do: examine Gorgonzola chassis and see if it can accept an insert suitable. Nah, probably be more expedient to make a unibody proxy.

Is it just me or does it look a little reminiscent of a Whale in this one? (it's got the throat groves and heavy bolter eyes):

You could keep the transport capacity at 6 units and have 2 Crassus and a Commander's Salamander or Chimera.... :)

What, so that the grunts can ride in armour 14 safety and their commanding officer can be picked out as a non war-engine target and quickly blown up?

Heh, in practice he'd probably end up riding around in a Crassus, but it'd be nice to at least pay lip-service to the concept of a command chimera! :D

It's on a Macharius Hull ... so it's big ... But does not look like there is much interest for a 6mm version ... :'( :-* :P
