You'll have to forgive the cheesy Star Trek inspired topic title, it's a throwback to my old long dead 40k log over on warseer.

Important note on models: A large amount of the models shown in this log are custom made and are unavailable so please don't ask. I have a large backlog of them to get through and would like feedback on painting/conversion only.

I returned to Epic early last year after some fresh blood joined my local club and started gaming regularly. I discovered this website and after seeing the wonderful things done by both the modelers and the NetEa/EpicUk folk to keep epic alive and healthy I was inspired; I finished painting the orks I had at the time and went looking for bargains on Ebay.

Long story short I'm hooked. This blog is here to keep me inspired, hopefully get feedback and ideas on the stuff I work on from here on in.

I'll start with some of my recent work:

Some walking robots:

More 1 More 2 More 3

My Imperial Fists

More Fists 1 More Fists 2

You'll notice that they're a little unfinished shoulder trims, faces etc I'm quite happy with how they look on the table atm but will get back to some detailing later.

Now onto the Start of my Adeptus Ministorum army.

I'm a little stuck on what colour scheme to choose from for my sisters just now it's a tossup between classic:

and something a little different:
Image
The rhinos in the background are a conversion as Mr Z is currently unable to make more of his proxy vehicles just now.

What do you guys think, any particular preference on colour? If I did the red scheme my vehicles would be done using a main dark red/bone scheme in place of the current black/red.

More conversions:
Exorcist(still to finish the fleur de lys)
Image
Imolators(still to finish the fleur de lys)
Image
Penitent Engines
Image
Penitents 1 Penitents 2

These last few are what I'd love feedback for, as it's more or less my first foray into 6mm conversions(Titans aside).

Thanks for looking!

I prefer the "classic" Sisters.

Love the penitents and all the paintwork is great!

I love ur freehands on the Landraiders!!! I also think they should have been washed with Gryphone Sepia Ink, if i may suggest that! But maybe the Foto quality is just poor!

Thanks for the compliments guys appreciated.

Zoid, it may be a combination of the gloss varnish and the light but all my fists have had a wash of sepia, its great stuff.

Think I'll go with the classic sister scheme, it'll make it easier to tell what they are at a brief glance.

And you should paint the shoulder trims, or are all your Imperial Fists from the 2nd Company? :)

My initial thought was to make these guys 2nd Co, my older Grandma Wendy stuff is from 3rd, 4th, 6th, 8th and 9th, but yellow on yellow is kinda boring so I was thinking 5th?

One of the assault fms will definitely be 9th. This is one of the reasons I love epic when you build a marine force you can make full use of the company colour system.

Nice army! I particularly like the Titans and the Penitent conversions look great :)

I'd go for something other that yellow for the trims myself, a mix of whatever you fancy and complements the yellow. I like representing different companies and different coloured trims can help tell which formation is which should they become intermingled in the battle. This reminds me of several years ago painting up an Imperial Fists army for our GW's store army when EpicA came out, though irritatingly one of my colleagues took a dislike to the different coloured trims and painted over them when I wasn't in.

When I paint up my similar Ultramarine army I plan to have at least 6 company captains represented in a 5kish army, so I can have all the command groups and banners (scanned and printed). It won't be that competitive but it'll look cool :)

Using multiple companies does sound colorful, and I see your point about avoiding confusion between intermingled formations. It seems to be the opposite of what a lot of players go for, which is one complete battle company (two tactical, one devastator, and one assault formation)… which also has some appeal.

Thanks for the nice comments guys!

I like doing full battle companies too but it helps having the reserve company colours to look to for the odd fm of bikes, assault, speeders & devs especially if they're piling in a thawk together!

Glyn I hope you gave your colleague what for, that's disgraceful! Printed banners sounds like a cool idea, though I think it's only practical for ultramarines which is a shame.

So onto a wee update to my sisters:
