Hi All,

I'm looking to get a bunch of trucks that would work well in an Epic army. There are plenty of 1/285 or 1/300 ones but I imagine they'll all look tiny compared to GW stuff. On the plus side they will be used in an army using the original Imp Guard models so they dont need to be too enormous. I did try a GZG one and it is probably the right size, but not the prettiest miniature:

Anyone have a better suggestion?

Brigade has some pretty good ones in the SAC faction range, IIRC. EW Hoplons might work if you want something halftracked. Heavier vehicles from GHQ might be okay as well; I'm thinking of the US HEMMT ten ton trucks here. Also Micro Machines.

I have some from a micro-toys line.

can photo later if you like. I've only two though, so some duplication would be neccesary. Both for you and for my orks/Latd

Hmmmmm, just looked at the Brigade one.....I think the GZG one is better looking ;D . How is the Brigade stuff scale wise?

I have Hoplons, they are too small (and half tracks).

Anyone got a pic of the HEMMT beside something Epic scaled?

Micro Machines not so hot....I need 10 or so.

Well, I think we tend to forget that things like Leman Russ are TANKS and tend to be bigger than even trucks. :) It's the scale of the infantry that throws things off sometimes. I am curious what you come up with though since I need a bunch for a big battle we're gearing up for.

Unfortunately I don't actually own either the Brigade or GHQ for scale comparison. Commissar Rudolf painted up some SCUD launchers for his IG which are probably similar in size, but there isn't an army shot for comparison.

Edit: If the GHQs are true 1/285 (a pretty good bet) the HEMMTS would be 1.4"/35mm long and .33"/8mm wide. Actual dimensions are 401" long x 96" wide.

Xmarx has some nice trucks. 3 variants of the same type of military truck. Brigade is the U.K. distributor, I don't know if they have an Australian distributor. Here's a link to their site: http://www.xmarx.com/products.html

The first 3 items on this catalog page are what I'm referring to. You can see photos of the first 2 trucks linked from the catalog or in their gallery. Pics of the 3rd truck, the supply truck can be seen in this review: wargameguru.weebly.com/review---xmarx--old-crow-6mm-sci-fi-models.html

The trucks are available in both 6mm and 8mm.

The rumour is that Xmarxs the resin terrain people are producing some HEMTT- style trucks in 6mm shortly . . .

They aren't much use to me though. I'm really after some low-tech troops transporter style trucks for a PDF army. I imagine them to look like a cross between a US WW2 6x4 and a long nosed Russian GAZ. Even something like a Bushmaster or M939 would be ok. In any case, a tray with seats or a canvas cover is required.

Problem with a true 6mm HEMTT is it will be long enough to fit in with GW stuff, but it will be comically narrow. The Xmarc stuff appears to be heroic 6mm which is cool, but the design isn't what I really want. I guess if they are reasonably priced I could cut off the spare tyre and assorted gubbins and scratch a tray on the back......

I did wonder about Z scale and found these:

but they are a bit expensive.

Oops, my bad. Sorry there, AnthonyR. ;D

Obviously, the older historical ranges are a possibility....You also get to use half-tracks which would make them look a little more exotic too.
