Hi
Too tired to get much painting done over the weekend. (went out clubbing on Friday night and played Mechwarrior yesterday). So to take a break from painting first batch of SM infantry I assembled the 2 packs of SM Dreads that I had purchased previous weekend at Salute.
The metal base they come on is too small too leave them freestanding. Now the superglue has dried, I am trying to work out how I should base them up. What should I use?? -old square bases? -warmaster bases? -W40k round bases?
I have been browsing on the net but I could n't find many dreads painted & based. Has anyone got any pics they can post/link to?
Cheers
James

I'm going with 1ps for Dread-sized vehicles, and 2ps for my Eldar tanks.. nice and cheap, and they look good too!

Hi!
I base them on 20x20mm warhammer fantasy rank and file bases. They are the same size as the old bases but since they are "elevated" it makes the base look nicer, especially when flocked.

I've used the old, square bases. Filled the holes with pollyfiller first though...

I used the old square bases too, but overturned instead of filled in.

Hi!
GW used to sell the 20mm square bases with no slot in it, which eliminated the need to fill holes or the slot for a great base.

20mm square or 25mm round, are what I use ...

I know I'm late, but I'll echoe the vote for 20mm square bases. I use the old SM era inf bases turned upside down, or up the right wat with the holes filled, depending on how lazy I'm feeling

I used to base my Dreads on 20mmx20mm square bases, but I now prefer pennies very much.

I also use the old 20mm square bases though I've been considering switching to coins.
Cheers!

Hi!
Flocked coins seem to be very popular. Its one of the more common bases I have seen over the years.

A fine coin of the realm gives the figure a noble weight, especialy if plastic or resin. It makes people who pick your figures up a little more carefull.
