Do you mean the battle scene built for a Games Day? - I think it was IG in green camo against a big Tau army in a city; mainly white buildings made from pink foam, with cool little details and even a monorail... It didn't look particually hard to build as well!!
Eldar stuff would be a bit harder I reckon, but the new WD (UK 280) has a battle report with the warpgate thing that we've seen before, and a rather cool wrecked Armourcast Phantom Titan...

This topic interests me greatly.
I've been wanting to build some non-Orky alien terrain for some time now.
TAU architecture could be high-tech anime type buildings. I'm thinking of using some resin buildings I have with Tau plastic bitz and decals added. I think they'll look good when I get around to it. The buildings used to be distributed in the states by a company called the Drum. I believe that they're made by New Kensington Miniatures these days.
ELDAR architecture is more enigmatic. I have awhole bunch of posts on this topic archived tht I saved from some time ago when I asked this very same question. One of our discussion's conclusions is that the Eldar like to build vertically (many spires) with many curves. Straight edges annoy them. Include lots of jewel stones or mini domes. I call this curving architecture style "organiform." I've thought about using sea shells as a basis for building shapes.
I'd love to hear other's ideas.
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

The Tau 40k codex has a few pictures of their cities and the second Last Chancers book by Gav Thorpe has some description of one...

One concept I had been thinking about for the Tau is to use a variety of plastic containers as the basis for a city - whereas with an Imperial city, you would detail the hell out of them - with a Tau city I would leave everything smooth

Jimbo,
I like your container idea, but I think it needs a little bit of mechanical detail. The White Dwarf photos had shell covers over mechanical apparati. That's why I suggest using TAU plastic bitz. I do like the idea though, although some buildings will need windows.

The Old Crow site might have some structures, that might work for the Tau, IIRC ?

I just bought some terrain from two UK companies. But down the road, I would not be surprised if Old Crow gets some of my $, for a small Tau settlement. Damn !!! I said I was not going to buy any more terrain !!!

The Tau city in White Dwarf used some plastic tau bits to make the cityscape.
As this is 6mm, I would use some of the 28mm Railguns and Ion cannons from the Hammerhead as city defences. Like huge flak cannons or to keep invaders away. Any ideas?
Cheers
Chris

I'm guessing some of the plastic Gundam models might have some good bits for building Tau buildings in Epic scale, but that's just a SWAG, as I'm very much out of the Tau/40K loop.

Hi
Seems a lot has happened while I've been away!!!
There was a WD article on a Tau settlement and that seemed easy enough. I was thinking the same as Chris and taking some 28mm stuff for bits and pieces but I will take a look at the Old crow site. As for the Eldar does anyone know of pictures that might have shown anything as to what they might look like?

Hmmm...good subject. The Eldar terrain is something I have been rolling around in my brain for some time now. I will post some preliminary sketches and doodles. It may spark an idea that'll spark another idea and so on....

I think you can get some Tau plastic bits seperate from GW mail order. Shame you can't get Fanatic stuff like that.
Cheers
