Hi all,
I remember someone saying that they'd made / posted photos of a conversion of Logan Grimnar in Epic scale at some point. It set me off on the idea of doing my own version, which was previously delayed & I'm only just now getting back to it.
Does anyone with any ideas on converting an Epic scale Logan Grimnar? I'd be very interested to hear them. Whoever it was that has already made one (or anyone else...), if you have any pictures, I'd love to see them posted.
Dont worry, I've already planned most of my conversion and started stage 3 yesterday night so I won't be nicking anyone else's ideas ?
I'm just curious as to how others would go about scaling down the various details that the 40K model has.

TuffSkull,
There's a Logan Grimnar on this site in the photo gallery. Take a look!
It looks like he used a little green stuff to make a beard and added an axe to a Terminator model. I love the conversion. I can't remember who made it.
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

Ah! - thats the one I was thinking of, thanks Maksim!
I'd trawled all through the Epic40K.com galleries, the old & new forums and drawn a blank - I overlooked the epic40k.co.uk showcase... Ooopps.....
It is a class conversion that. Makes me wonder whether my one is as good as I'd previously thought
I guess we'll see when I get it painted, then you guys can critique it to pieces.....

The whole little Space Wolves army in that little gallery section is very impressive in my opinion. They are really nicely highlighted and intricately painted.
I especially love the banner... Looking at them again has also inspired me to try out using some litchen (the little bits of green bushy stuff) on some of my bases, just as a cool little extra touch...

Well, I've confirmed that I can post these and still be legit for the competition, so my workbench has been updated with some WIP shots of my Logan Grimnar model. I've included a couple of shots of the completed piece (minus base & retinue which still need to be decided upon...) below.
Any comments & (constructive) critisisms welcomed as usual.

Well, I find this work quite remarkable. Your patience and dexerity obviously are in another league to my own.
Well Done. I think I will have to revoke your clearance to enter this model in the comp- just kidding! You deserve to be proud of this

Thanks for the comments guys, its nice to be back to pure insanity with models like this rather than skirting around the edges of it with larger pieces It marks a return of confidence new for 2003 in my ability to pull things like this off in the scale, which at one point I thought I wouldnt get back to. Now there's no stopping me.....
It is a GZG base, one that CyberShadow sent mein part of a trade to show me their style. I hadnt found a use for it up until now, but I can see myself getting some more for display characters/squads like this.
As for the competition, I'm (hopefully) going to be doing a number of other conversions in the coming months so we'll have to see if this ends up asmy entry or not

No chance of a win against skill like this.
Great job Tuffskull!

I dont want to sound arrogant with this, but a number of people have commented that there is little point in their entry against me in the competition. I do not want to prevent other's from entering if they think there is no point!
If people would prefer, I am quite happy to not enter the single miniature/squad catagories & simply do some full reviews of the other entries.
I am not trying to say that I am any better at painting/converting etc than anyone else, but I would rather remain a spectator on a competition with lots of entries from different people, showing lots of styles and things to draw inspiration from. A competition which is well competed is of more interest to me than entering or even winning a foregone conclusion (which I do not tend to believe, but appears to be the general consensus of opinion ? ).
I leave it to the popular vote. If you lot think more people would enter if I sit on the sidelines, I will do so. As I say, I dont want to sound big headed, but since the views were expressed, I thought I should offer to hold off.

Ah - but then you miss out on the prizes Jervis is offering, which wouldn't be fair.

Quote (netepic @ 07 2003 July,14:01) | Ah - but then you miss out on the prizes Jervis is offering, which wouldn't be fair. | Its a shame, yes, but I would rather lose the oppertunity to win than scare off other entrants if that is the way my models are viewed.
I want the contest to be a sucess for everyone and that means lots of entrants and lots of cool models / displays for viewers and voters to look at.
I'm sure there will be other oppertunities for me to get my hands on more epic models (the snapdragon terrain jimbo offered is very tempting though... I might have to enter just that catagory and have a shot at it )
