As mentioned in a previous thread I've decided to do a Casting article for Incoming. ?The articles progresses slowly, but the model is done. ?I thought I'd give you a peek at the completed first casting. ![]() (the pic turned out kind of dark) This is basically a test cast. I plan on two vesrions. ?One with a gattling type gun and one with some sort of intelligance package. ![]() |

That's one of the problems in doing scratchbuilts. ?If you want to build something practical and functional looking, you can bet something similar already exists. ?So a lot of what you do looks derivative. |

I cut five 1mmx1mm strips of sheetstock. 2 across the top and 3 down. I glued them to the front face of the upper hull. The windshield wipers are 1/2mm wide pieces of sheetstock. (these came out amazingly well on the cast dupe) I painted the windscreens gold then washed them with a thin amber glaze. |

That is fantastic. I am another hovercraft fan, and I have been thinking about outfitting an Epic army with more conventional hovers. |

Superb work Mr 'Meng. If you can cast these into a companies worth or so they would look awsome as a chimera replacement for a mech. company. Makes me want to get back into making things for WETepic, but I think I have enough projects on the go for the moment! ![]() Keep it up, and make sure to keep us all informed of your progress. |

Here is the rough casting of the finalized attack version of my avac. ![]() ![]() I am planning, tentatively, to do a small production casting of about 60 of these some time next month. I plan to sell them as three packs. I'll provide more details when I get it all worked out. I also finished and submitted my casting article so keep an eye out for it in Incoming . |

Again, very nice modeling ! You should be able to sell those easily to Epic players. |

I would be interested in getting some of them! They would make cool alternatives for Chimera's in Mechanised forces. Are you planning on making any variations of these, like a battle tank version? Please update us when some are avaliable! Cheers Chris |

I hadn't thought of making any variations. I was considering doing some with no hatches or weapons. Sort of a conversion base model. So a person could do what they will with them. |

Yeah that would be cool. Stick a Leman Russ hatch on their and off you go! Also, what are the production costs of a model like that? And could you take a pic of one next to, say a Rhino, so we have a sense of scale? Cheers Chris |

Here is a pic next to a rhino. ![]() As for production costs, I'm not sure yet. I'm going to do them in poly-resin to help keep my cost down. I am going to have to use 2-part RTV for the molds, so between that, the resin and a few other small things I'm looking at about eighty dollars in start up material. I won't be able to figure a unit cost until after the casting is complete. I'm not looking to make a killing on these. The price should be fairly cheap. I am actually doing this run to try out a few new techniques and toys I've picked up. |
