it seems a bit excessive to use a 25/28 mm figure case for most of the 6mm Epic plastics; they're so light! ?

- Anybody find a convenient way to store and carry them to a game?

Thanks in advance!

I use a tackle box to store mine. There are nice little trays for your troops and tanks. And there's a nice large space under them for your Titans.

I use a GW carry case to transport my 6mm miniatures, but whilst they're not heading for battle they are generally stored either in my display cabinet or in a set of filing drawers. That's not the right term for it, but its very useful!

Basically a tower of 2,3 &4 inch high drawers set on wheels which I store under my workbench. It can be wheeled to the gaming table when they're needed and they stay safe. It holds 5+ carry cases worth of troops and cost less!

I have another one which holds all my WIP pieces making it nice and easy to select what I'm going to work on rom the drawers right beside my desk  :D

Hi!

I use those Plano brand fish and tackle boxes with the adjustable space.

Cheap, sturdy and easy to carry.

Plano tackle boxes.

A medium sized one is currently holding about 6K in ork troops/vehicles, plus 3 gargants and a supastompa and another has about 6K in eldar, plus 3 titans.  I think they cost me $10 each at Big Lots.  A really big one that a friend gave me holds SM, CSM, and IG at about 6K, 6K, and 4K, plus about a dozen titans and room for expansion.

The foam from the blisters is usually enough to to pad any models that might damage each other sliding around (Cobras, Baneblades, etc.).

The sections for fly-tieing are a great place for titans.

Hi!

If you need a real big box for titans and such, a rifle case with padded foam is excellent!

You can get a 4-pistol pistol case for about the same price as a rifle/shotgun case.  It's smaller, but will still hold lots and is much easier to handle.

Hi!

Thats a good point Neal, although I bought cheap "double rifle" cases for $24.00 dollars each online and I have fitted 130 titans and super heavies into them.

Pretty good for the price!

Not to mention, walking into the GW store with a rifle case might send the wrong message... }:)

I use these to store my infantry and tanks. I have 3 of them, and am having trouble filling them! Only one drawback though, you can't store titans in them!

If anyone is interested, you can order them here.

For titans however, I have one of these to store them. I know it says CD's, but painted up and lined with sponge they store titans rather well, all the way up to Imperators!

Cheers,
Chris.

Chris,

I like those big storage cases, but...

How do you transport them?

The drawers fall out easily if moved... ?:(

I use a Plano fishing tackle box with three trays and a top area for bigger items such as Titans and terrain.

Unfortunately, I have so much painted Eldar that I could fill TWO of them with just painted minis!

I've thought about buying a Flambeau box, but I already have Plano storage items and they work very well and are all interchangeable.

I've been slowly converting everything to magnetic storage to make things more secure. I have small rare earth magnets, magnetic sheeting, steel paper and other goodies to make this possible.

The 6mm_miniatures site has a whole links folder called "6mm_wargaming accessories" that has all sorts of links to commercial manufacturers of magnetic products and commercial wargaming mini storage companies.

I have some of my pieces in GW shipping boxes with a layer of egg foam inside.

Some of my pieces are in Dollar Store shoe boxes or small plastic cases for crafts or sewing items. A US Dollar is a good starting price for such items. I save foam from other cases and cut it (or stuff it) to fit in existing cases.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

I use a mid sized tackle box for my 10k+ IG.  I picked it because it has horizontal slide out plastic cases with adjustable dividers in it.  I keep the troops in one, armor in another, and WE/titans/sentinals (60!) in the other.  Easy to get stuff out, and easy to travel with.  Plus, has a compartment in the top for dice, calculator, and rulebooks.

I recently upgraded my storage and transport.  I'm using the Plano 3700 "system."  Basically, it's a nylon bag with pockets sized and shaped so that the plastic tackle trays they make fit inside it.  The trays are ~10"x18" and come in a variety of depths, with standard tackle box removable dividers.  The bag will carry a 10" depth, plus a bit and is roomy enough to slide rulebooks and notepads in next to the trays.

Standard troops go in a standard 2" depth tray.  I've got about 9K of marines in one tray.  Titans go in a 3" deep tray (warlords and bigger lay down).  They are also available in a 1 1/2" depth.  And the deeper trays have different kinds of compartment layouts, from standard 1" increments to one big open box.

It's easy to set down a row of models, lay foam on top and set another row on top of that so they are snug.

The cases run about $15US and the trays run from $3US up to $6 or so for the bigger ones (silly fishermen want the things waterproofed...).

Currently, I have trays set up as:

Marines
IG Armor and Arty
IG infantry and transport
Imperial titans and air support (3" tray, half is one big compartment, the other is divided like a normal tackle box - 1 warlord, 1 reaver, 2 warhounds, 1 imperator, 2 formations each of TBolts and Maruauders)
Ork Bad Moons
Ork Speed Freeks
Feral Orks
Eldar infantry and trans
Eldar armor and air
Ork and Eldar titans (2 great gargants, slasha, supastompa/mekboy, 1 phantom, 1 warlock)
Nids

As you can see, it can easily carry 2 good-sized armies (8K+), and I have carried up to 4 intro-sized armies in it.   Label the ends, stack them neatly on the shelf, and grab whatever you need for the next game.

With a little more foam (because they are heavier), I've packed my 40K and WFB armies in them also.

The best thing is, it stays neat so my wife is happier about it. :D

I highly recommend it.

I use my wardrobe to store my minis, so my cloths have been religated to the floor :-:
