Hi all, spurred on by Tuffskull's email on a potential Tyrannic diary, I not-very-originally decided to embark on my own 'diary' project - the Eldar. My own choice of army resulted from my conversion of what I call an Eldar Firewing out of an old plastic Falcon from Space Marine days - you can see it here. So what I'll be working on in the coming weeks is an Eldar army for Epic - more specifically, an army from the Eldar Craftworld Mingel (that's a soft g; means scythe in Maltese). The colours will be similar to those on the firewing: yellow, with red splinters (at least on surfaces on which they are easy to paint:p ); Titans and special stuff will have their own variations. Tuffskull I'm not, so progress will be slow and erratic at best - I generally operate on one of two gears: hopelessly slow or reverse. ?So don't wait with bated breath - just drop in every other month, by which time I'll have added my xth stand of guardians.... ![]() My Mingel army composition will mainly include older models, and the odd conversion, such as the Firewind - I'll be using these as Fire Prisms (hence the 'Fire' name). It will win NO awards in army selection, being based simply on two factors: 1 - I want to include a Titan, and al three of my Titans are Warlocks, of which I can have only one... ![]() 2 - my army will be based on my existent models: this means NOT A SINGLE TRANSPORT - tactical and strategic suicide, I guess; but I know what to buy when these come out eventually (NO, I DIDN'T MEAN THE SUPERHEAVY VEHICLES - TRANSPORTS - FALCONS AND WAVESERPENTS). INCIDENTALLY, I should introduce BOLDTYPE, my modelling-gaming conscience who canbe quite forceful; or totally absent. My army selection will be based on 5 warhosts - to justify the titan, mainly: One Exarch warhost, and 5 Eldar guardian warhosts. The lack of transport will be felt, but these will come later. with regards to supporting troupes, there will be the free Avatar, a few FireWings (=Frire Prisms) and a troupe of Wraithguard, and at least one troupe of Jetbikes. Other than that, I'll have to see what I can cobble up or buy (FW or GW on release). So - I'm taking an early start, and a short cut: codels already complete ![]() 1 Firewind 1 stand of Guardians 1 Wraithlord..... er - not much of a head start that... Work in progress: 2 more Firewinds.... ![]() Oh well, the Italians say 'Da cosa nasce cosa.' And a lot of other things too. Very philosophical cheers - currently-Bonesinger Vanvlak |

Hi Stormseer, er, you got that wrong, I'm the slow mover, right? One vehicle in 10 weeks, at best... oh dear, I need a 50-year diary at least. Mojarn, I know this seems a bit of a contrast to what I said just above, but if you mean the stand in my Yahoo briefcase, that took all of 10 minutes to complete - three weeks, really, but all apart from 10 minutes was messing about trying to decide on the colour scheme, so it should go faster now. ? ![]() My slow speed comes from massive delays in between models - good old Deffsta, for example, is on hold again... This diary should at least help me sort the Eldar out. Note - when we get to a twenty-week gap with no news from me, it will be me selecting the colour schem for my Eldar Titan... ![]() |

MONDAY Hi all, have added a few pics to the Yahoo briefcase at eldar briefcase. Not much though - just a better view of the Guardians (called Eldar Guardians), a new pic of my Avatar, who is to be united with his court, and a view of one of my oldest models, an old Eldar Knight which i'm using as a Wraithlord. Eldar X shows the original Firewing being painted, whilst 'Firewings in progress' shows what I'm working on at the moment. The Falcons are in their original undercoat with yellow canopy; they will now be sprayed black before being given yellow topsides (as in Eldar X) and subsequently red splinter markings, copper canopies, and chestnut wash. That's all for today. Army list tomorrow - I hope! ![]() |

quoting nealhunt from the thread Unidentified Eldar: "If I'm not mistaken, the blades that have been added came from the front of the mega gargant "cow catcher" piece." A present from Deffsta, therefore. ? ![]() These blades 'cover' 3 1/2 Falcons, then it's on to plasticard or other suitable alternatives. I'll be using a range of vehicles to represent Fire Prisms - in my mind's eye they're variants which have similar (in E-A terms) characteristics READ: ANOTHER EXCUSE FOR LAZINESS AND INELEGANCE ok, ok, thank you for this ##%**&**## enlightenment, conscience... ? ![]() |

Looks good! And I find it hard to believe it only took you 10 minutes to do that infantry stand. ![]() |

True! I usually boast of my prowess at taking months on end to get things done, so I'll explain the guardian stand: 1 - clip Eldar and base off sprue and remove flash 2 - cut off a small section of the small black ruined buildings to a size which looks good on the base. 3 - glue the lot together 4 - black undercoat 5 - grey base and ruins 6 - yellow Eldar (TM Mingel craftworld) 7 - red helmets for the Eldar (TM Mingel craftworld) 8 - wash with chestnut wash or equivalent (TM Mingel craftworld) 9 - bleached bone drybrush 10 - pva glue around Eldar guardians' bases and ruins, and add mixture of flock and small pieces of clay-based (Fuller's earth) cat litter (mix includes fine flock mainly, and only very small pieces of litter for Epic size; the 'boulder' in front of the ruins was individually placed) 11 - matt varnish spray Ok, that's not really fair, I omitted to include the drying time for the undercoat, paint, wash, drybrush, pva. ![]() |

Yay, another diary! I love these things, even though it shows just how bad and slow my own work is! I look forward to more of this. With Tuff having finished Guard and moving on to the Bugs, me doing Marines, Shadow Hunter on Orks and now you on Eldar, we have most of the basic races sorted. Anyone going to take up the gauntlet with Chaos? |

Oddly, I received an e-mail asking if I was going to update the TSons list I did recently, and... I had been considering starting the Tzeentch Imperator conversion, and... I won an auction for an Imperator off EBay, and... there has been a conversion thread on the playtest forum about how to do Defilers, and... I started another thread about other WE conversion ideas. Maybe it's a sign. Give me a day or two to decide. |

TUESDAY 16th DECEMBER 2004 DAY2 Hi all, worked late, so not much to report - BUT - I have prepared a provisional army list, based on the models I have - it's almost pathetic, but my budget is currently pitifully low, so there you have it. Here goes: Aspect Warrior Warhost - 2 x Hawks, 2 x Striking Scorpions, 2 x Banshees; 3 Exarchs. 325 points Troupes: Avatar ?0 points Windriders ?200 points Aspect Warrior Warhost - 3 x Reapers, 3 x Warp Spiders, 1 Exarch. 275 points Troupes: Spirit Warriors (3 wraithlords option) 250 points Guardian Warhost 1 - Farseer 150 points Troupes: Fire Prisms 250 Fire Prisms 250 Guardian Warhost 2 - Farseer 150 points Troupes: Fire Prisms 250 Fire Prisms 250 Guardian Warhost 3 - Farseer 125points Guardian Warhost 4 - Farseer 125points Warlock Titan - optional weapon: pulsar (got no fists) 850 points Points total = 3450 3450/3 = 1150, which means the Titan (war engines category) is less than 1/3 of points, so it's legal ![]() Optional extra - I have a vague idea for a conversion for a Storm Serpent. If it works, it could transport my Aspect Warriors. Closest thing to a Landa the Eldar could come up with... Optional extra 2 - If I have the points, I'd convert a Warlock Titan to a Phantom - but this is a very low priority at the moment. Optional extra 3 - a Cobra conversion - not a priority, but something I'd really like to try! More photos up at my briefcase here - the last six photos show some of my raw material. That's all for today. Hope I'll have some model stuff to show tomorrow. ? ![]() |

And that is how the Changer of Ways summons his trusted followers! ![]() I would be very interested in hearing about this and seeing any progress. If it is any consolation, you CANT be slower or worse than me and my Marines! |
