So, a while back I decided I wanted to build an army that: 1) had some special rules in it - I most often play IG, the Washington Generals of E:A ![]() 2) incorporated the nifty little noise marine figure 3) was fluffy, and 4) could act as a vessel of sorts for my somewhat twisted sense of humor I settled on doing a black legion army, but one that would strictly be Emperor's Children, and therefore only include Slaanesh elements or those that I could justifiably modify to be vaguely Slaanesh. I also wanted to keep my degenerates somewhat moderate in their level of vice, so to speak. In musical terms, more David Bowie than Marilyn Manson. I've been building, painting, and taking pics of these guys for awhile now, and this blog represents a response to the "sh*t or get off the pot" comments from Dave and others ![]() So, without further ado: the raw material: Otterware: nonordered nashorns to cart around the sickos: ![]() Decimators, the idea for using a E40k LR sandwich shamelessly ripped off from these boards - A gentleman from Slovakia (but his forum name escapes me at the moment): ![]() Land raiders, suitably chaosified with some 40k bits. Also, half of them are the metal chaos models, so I switched the sponsons: ![]() Then, we have a BFG devastation cruiser (suitably christened "Space Oddity") and a proxy for the fighter and fighter bombers: ![]() ![]() Can you guess what the plane is? The color scheme I planned was dark grey/black with muted pink distinctions. They're pretty boys, but not too pretty. |

Further raw material: The infantry for the retinues and forlorn hopes: I was able to get ahold of a buttload of noise marines, so they are included on every stand for flavor. Also, there's a havoc on each stand. The command stands all have sorcerers, and a cultist representing the retinue's "gimp." He has the toughest row to hoe of the lot ![]() ![]() ![]() Obliterators: ![]() In order to get the dark grey finish, I primed grey, did a wash of badab black, then added metal, distinctions, etc, then black wash again. Well, not with these guys yet, but with a test unit, the armored vehicles, and the planes. |

Nice, pink detailing rather than OTT pink eyesores. |

Thanks guys! Since I have a huge backlog of pics, you won't have to wait too long. On the plane, think different design bureau. |

I had some SM/TL(?) chaos infantry that I used to test out the paint job. This is basically how the rest of the infantry will look, except I learned that the Gale Force 9 flocking I used was not up to the task (more improper use and operator error than a ding at GF9, btw) I went with model RR ballast instead. Forlorn Hope test unit completed: ![]() ![]() Absolutely correct, Apoc! You get a cookie ![]() |

Hum, I'm not sure if you meant Apoc or Me, but we are clearly NOT the same guy with an internet disguised split personality. For one, I paint much faster when I'm Apoc, and I also play more, and I also have crazy modelling skills. Not as Athmos. And BTW, your army is coming along very nicely. I like theses washes a lot. Looks like GW stuff. Is it ? |

Then, the Chaos Navy got some love... Space Oddity, basically ready for the champagne bottle (or its 40k equivalent) except perhaps some stars on the base (hence the masking still on the stem): ![]() The Yak-141s, decked out in their finery. In keeping with the not-completely wacked-out them of my E. children, I painted various panels the pink. The more pink there is, and the more random it is, the more batsh*t crazy the pilot ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() My sincere apologies to Atmospheric. Yes, he's the one who deserves the cookie. I had Apoc on the brain, as some of your stuff will feature prominently in this thread soon... |
