I'm pondering what would be a better base size and shape for this king of titans. Oval? Rectangle? Circle? 60mm minimum?

What would be a more aesthetically pleasing base when it comes to rules? I'd like my base to be functional not just pretty..It seems to me more often than not I see Emperor Class Titans not based when it comes to games. For me this seems a little silly considering the rules for engaging your opponent in base contact you would want to have a clear and defined boundary to measure from. Am I thinking too much into this? I'm I crazy? OR am I just too picky? ::)

simple solution is to use a CD

I used a 50mm x 100mm rectangle of 5mm polystyrene sheet in the past, it worked very well for me.

Other possibilities are two cirular 60mm titan bases cut flat on one edge of each and then stuck together. Or possibly a 50mmx100mm warhammer chariot bases, though you may want to file it down to the same height as other bases if like me you don't like high bases in epic.

High wouldn't be such a bad thing for a Titan...I think?

I've used old expired credit cards (Well not credit cards, but similarly sized plastic cards. It is a tight fit, but it works if you're going to reposition the legs slightly anyway. I like that size since it both adds sufficient stability to the model, but at the same tome doesn't dominate too much like a CD would.

If you can find one of those small CDs (8cms diameter compared to the 12cms of regular CDs), that would work quite well I think. You can find some cheap writeable ones just about anywhere I think, but sometime you get some free ones with promotional stuff or useless mouse drivers and such stuff.

Yup, although I'd probably clip off some of the CD on the front and back of the Titan.

That's what I used and it's a really good fit:

A normal 120mm CD is a bit big, although it would do if you can't find any 80mm ones.

I prefer a circular base for a model this size. Otherwise if the unit turns as part of its move it can be difficult to be sure where to measure from/to.

I use the old stat cards from Space Marine (original Epic 40K).
They are 89mm x 59mm.

Big enough to give the model stability but not so big that it effects game play (moving past difficult terrain without having to do a Difficult Terrain Test, etc).

I managed to find a ~100mmX4mm round plywood disc at a craft store for mine (used for creating cup holders or some rubbish)
