Hi,

It might seem a strange question but I wanted some advice.

I have decided to do an Imperator titan conversion. After buying a Chaos Defiler I found that I had bits left that I could use.  So I wanted to add bits from the defiler without going overboard on scale. I found a  40k daemon prince in my collection and the left arm looks rather good holding the twin cannon I pinched from the defiler.  Dont worry I can order the same piece from GWMO so I wont be throwing away the chance to paint up the daemon Prince  :p

The question is: Would sticking the arm onto the titan make it look a little too unrealistic? I mean a titan is supposed to be mechanical and no bio-material present save for the crew....or at least whats left of them.

Last time I tried a conversion on an Imperator titan I tried doing the Abominatus, that also has an arm but more mechanical.

Any suggestions woud be gladly appreciated

Doug

Have you compared the Banelord Doomfist for scale?  It might give you a good idea for overall look, even if it's not feasible as it is.

An option might be to cut the arm at the wrist (below the relatively mechanical-looking armor) and replace it with a powerfist (titan or 40K scale, whatever looks good) holding the weapon.

Good point. The doomfist would need to be altered, and it wasnt easy to find stuff to go with the altered doomfist. Thats were the daemon prince came into it. I thought of using the same look as the obliterators in 40k but thats where I wasnt sure if it was consistant to the titan image

I think an obliterator look would be fine.

I wouldn't put a limit on the type of bitz you hope to use. I think that it would look good.

Thanks Maksim,

I wasn't sure so I will be trying out a few things. It shouldn't take too long to build and paint up. I was thinking along the lines of an undivided Imperator. Maybe black and gold trimming in the way the Defiler was painted on the side of the box. ?

Thanks for the ideas.
Doug.

Doug,

Thanks Maksim,

You're welcome.

I've always wanted to build the Titans from the Titan graphic novels. That's one of my dream projects. In the mean time, I want to get those Jopallis done!

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Had a good modeling weekend...

I converted a Banelord to a Tzeentch version.  I cut off the bloodletter head and replaced it with the big Tzeentch bird titan head.  I cut the jaw so it fit over the gun.  I cut the neck below the square flange.  I used an old 40K marine backpack to make a neck that would fit over the the "imerial eagle" part of the carapace which the bloodletter head used to cover.  It worked out great, because the squared-off over-lapping plates gave a sort of mechanical feather look.

In retrospect, I should have cut the neck above the flange to give it a smoother transition.  The wrinkled neck going into the mechancial feathers would have made for a nice vulture-like appearance, not that it's bad now.

Basically, everything but the head/neck stayed the same so I could field it with the Banelord's stats.

Also, in the super-cool news category, I borrowed a digital camera over the weekend.  Once I work out the bugs, I will start posting pics, both here, and to the competition.

I think you'll all see that my conversions are better than my follow-up painting, though... :;):

You should check out the "Do You Like To Paint?" thread. We've been talking about how easy (but time-consuming) it can be to paint 6mm Epic figures well.

That was a good thread, especially dafrca's "paint in increment" bit.  I laughed out loud.

I do enjoy painting but I tend to get impatient with it.  I want it done now, the way I see it in my mind, and that's it.

OTOH, with the modeling I have plenty of patience.  I also picture it in my mind, but for some reason, I'm able to stop when I need to let something sit.

I think part of it is how my mind breaks up the "steps" in the process.  When modeling, each piece seems a separate step.  Since all the cutting/fitting can be done back to back, and in many cases the gluing is very quick, it feels like I'm accomplishing more.  That keeps me motivated.

Painting, OTOH, seems to take forever.  If it weren't for being able to spray paint base coats, I'd probably never get anything painted completely.

Anyway, I have 2 Tzeentch Warlords ready to go, and another planned in my head.  I also have conversions for 2 Warhounds and the long-awaited Tzeentch Imperator.

More bitz, more bitz, more bitz...

hahaha I am away for a couple of days  and I miss all the fun :p

Neal, your conversion sounds very similar to a warlord titan I found on ebay.  It has the bird like head and has been fitted some wings, it wasnt too bad.... I am hoping to create more but this imperator comes first.  I would like to enter it into the titan model competition.

I have the bits to make the other titans that were featured in the magazine journal. I think it was around issue 10-14 , cant remember exactly but there were some good ideas and stats to go with them.  I have yet to make them but I have all the parts to complete them when I have the time.

Can someone tell me how large the dropship upper deck is?

I'm looking for something to use as a floating platform for my Imperator titan. ?I saw that and since it had a whopping $15 bitz price tag I thought it might be big enough for an Imperator to stand on.

Also, the Anvil of Doom Runesmith base might be nice if someone can provide measurements.

Hi!

If you are refering to the epic dropship model hull, its way too small for a base for the imperator.

Its been a while since I last held the anvil of doom  platform, but my recollection is that is too small.

I really think you need to custom build one, the Imperator leg separation make it one wide base.
