Hello All,......I found the Scarab & Komodo on Shapeways website (address below). These are very nice IMO. I've placed an order for each and will let everyone know how they are. If anyone else is going to place an order, the comments from the designer advise that they should be printed in "White detail" for best results. Does anyone know of any other "finds" like this out there anywhere? Here's the link: www.shapeways.com/shops/coolhand Happy 6mm gaming.....! ![]() |

Shapeways sucks donkeys. Seriously folks, while their service is good, their print resolution is awful. |

Well, after a bit of discussion with the designer (asking him questions about the actual size of the mini) I placed my order today. Shapeways tells me I should have them in 10 days. I'll let everyone know how they are when I get them. As an extra tidbit, the designer advised me that he is working on another vehicle and 6mm infantry figures and sent me a few pics. I've asked him for permission to post the links here and if he gives it, I'll post them. |

The designer sent me a website address and some pics. Definitely worth a look. Thank you Steve. http://coolhand.scifi-meshes.com/ http://www.shapeways.com/shops/coolhand I was amazed at all the scifi and starships on the scifi-meshes website above. |

Hey it's Steve Tyler. He did the Deisho for Cold Navy line and I believe the color art for the John Bear Ross sculpts. Let us know how the Scarab and Komodo turn out, I like the look of them too. |

I can't help but think that if there were miniature/model companies interested in his (and Charles') designs, they'd be available in higher quality resin/metal castings. Shapeways many not offer good-to-great resolution, but it may be the only way that many good, original 3d designs will ever see physical form. Otter, I'm sure they'd be responsive to offers; Drew at Studio Bergstrom is doing exactly that with some of his models right now (asking for 'sponsorships' to cover the cost of bronzing/molding to put specific models into production). |

Dave wrote: Hey it's Steve Tyler. He did the Deisho for Cold Navy line and I believe the color art for the John Bear Ross sculpts. Indeed it is:D Just to jump in with a correction, but I only did artwork for cold navy, I made the kikoku and junila fleets for Ninja magic a few years back... And i've built, err, numerous, models for other people since working on those lines. I've added a couple more 6mm scale models today to the shapeways store http://www.shapeways.com/shops/coolhand & if you guys try them and have any ideas for models or specific features or feedback please let me know. Thanks, Steve. btw, i've got some really nice prints from them, ok an eden on full whack will do better;) but that will cost a lot more to print. As an example I printed out the Agrippa http://www.shapeways.com/model/66430/ag ... id=sg27078 in white detail, which is nicer than white strong and flexible and would be my choice for any miniature print. Shapeways and its ilk are going to become more popular in this area, as prices drop and quality increases larger and larger models will be practical, currently small scales like 6mm are doable... but anything too large just costs too much this way so here i limit myself to the small scales. It's fun for me to experiment with it, and i have sold prototypes on for traditional production with other companies... if anyone reading this is interested in buying any of the designs or mass producing them with another method then be sure to let me know.

Ah, so it was you who did the NM stuff. Great models all around. If a company like Microworld made those vehicles in metal I'd definitely pick them up. The Growler is great, very reminiscent of the VBL. |

Thanks, Todds designs for his ninja magic fleet were, and still are, outstanding. Whats a VBL? I was trying to make something thats a sorta cross between a humvee, a lamborghini countach and a stryker. ![]() Anyone here know any further companies that might be looking for digital protos? |

A French light vehicle: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VBL Exodus Wars , Rebel minis, Critical Mass Games and Khuasan both use prototypes I believe (the latter two having only 15mm lines at the momement), same with and Microworld Games as mentioned above. |
