Here I would like to hear about or ,better still, see 6mm things you have built for you epic game. Be it scenery, vehicles or whatever. No conversions. That is my other thread. They have to be made from scratch or cobbled together from bitz. Here is my first couple of pics of some sci-fi doohickies.

Nice stuff!  What is it mad eout of?  It would be good oif each contributor briefly described how each was amde and what its intended to be used for.

I see these being great objectives or a special command post network

I was intending to use them as either objectives or just scenery. They could be used as anything. Communication hubs, power regulation systems, sheild control sevices, computer cores the list is endless for doo-hickies like this.

They were made from jewlery boxes and styrene. A shop I went to had these plastic boxes on sale so, I bought a bunch of 'em.  :p  For bits I use evergreen modeling styrene. They are usually used in model railroads. They come in all kinds of shapes and sizes. Tiles, sidwalks, metal siding, i-beams, rods and so on...

These should look better once I am done painting them. I am going to make alot of them. Why, I don't know. I have to use up those boxes.  :D  I'll probably just end up giving some away.  :o

Excellent !!! I use Evergreen and R.R. bitz too.  It's easy and fun ... :)

Nice models Signius, they remind me of the Snapdragon 6mm SF range.

It reminds me that I keep meaning to scratchbuild some scenery using that technique (and if I had the time) cast them in resin.

Another option I keep meaning to investigate (but have not had the time) is (and I can't remember the exact terms) is "vac-formed" plasticard structures. Basically a master is made and then a heated piece of plasticard is pulled over the master by a vacumn. Older gamers may remember Bellona used this technique as did GW with their craters back in the early 1990s.

Well back to the topic in question, here is my 6mm scratch build model - well not so much scratch-built, but more a kit-bash...

stormseer :
I do not know if it is available in the UK. I would assume yes. However, you know what they say about people who assume? ?:p Anyway, this is the only link I can think of that actually shows you what the stuff looks like. Although, you should not buy it here. You should be able to find it online cheaper. If you are unable to obtain any then, let me know and I'll get it for you.

Here is another. They make pretty much the same thing.

Thanks Signius, I'll have a trawl round the model shop in my local area to see if any of them stock it (or anything similar). :)

My local hobby shop carries a lot of both of those companies' items (I'm lucky :D) ! ?They make long thin plastic strips that I toyed with buying to make track guards/ fenders for many of the IG vehicle's exposed tracks (it's O.K. for Orks !). ?Which besides is not very "realistic" or functional for armored vehicles, and can sometimes be a bit hard to paint. ?But this is another case of G/W models being artist driven, I think ??? ?! ?But what do I know, I only served in 3 Mech Bns, when I was in the army ?! ?:;):

That is an intresting point. I been toying with the idea of putting reactive armor on some of heavy tanks. However, getting it to look right has proven extremely difficult. Any ideas on that?

I had toyed with that idea also. Use the sheet with the smallest squares available. Cut and file them to fit the part of the hull or turret you want to cover. ?Probably 2-3 squares long or wide and in some places maybe only one small square bit may do... ? ?This may be a bit challenging :D !!!
