Greetings all,

Inspired by all the excellent work on this forum, I'm going to once again try and get some epic armies finished.

I've started a number of armies over the years but nothing has made it to a complete stage. The end result is usually frustration and the WIP figs taking a bath in simple green. I've also moved a lot over the last few years which my hobby finds a major distraction, so over the next 2-3 yrs (before the next move) I'm hoping to complete some epic armies to around the 3-5K points.

The first army I'm going to commit to is a Raven Guard SM force for the simple fact that I have had the figures the longest, they deserve to finnally be painted, and it is also a simple paint scheme that I should be able to finish relatively quickly.

I've looked at the RG list that Neal Hunt is working on and will be using that as a guide but I will be completeing additional units such as some supporting armour so I can play them as a standard list with a heavy Speeder/assault/scout focus when the need arrises.

So after a digging through the moving boxes and establishing a painting station in the garage I've assembled the following as a start point:

I have a lot of SM stuff but for this army I think I'll stick to old stuff that was released either SM/TL or Epic40k era. I've gotten CAL to get me some other goodies whilst he's overseas so I'll probably do an additional marine army once this is complete (See I start positive)

I started with a couple of test figures to get the black/grey/wash mix right. The first couple, a pair of speeders, went into the paint stripper but I was happy with these

As of tonight I've now completed

Dev Det, minus transports
Assault Det
Commando Det (for these guys I'm using tac marines dispersed 3 to a base), these guys are going to get TL LC razorbacks for rides but I just need to finish the extra equipment on the vehicles.
2 old thunderbricks (these can help out as additional Thawks, or will act as Caestus in a RG army. Speaking of which does anyone have any of these they what to sell/offload/trade? I could do with a few more for the RG lists.

Over the next few days I'm hoping to complete the tactical det, the commando's transports and make a start on some speeders/drop pods.

Comments, suggestions & critics welcome.

Cheers

Looking forward to future updates, its nice to see the old SM1 beakys been used, I prefer them to the later sm2 miniatures, its just a pity they did not put 1 or 2 more different poses in the design :( to break things up.

Looking good i hope you get your army finished and keep the pics coming.

Regards epic

Neat, though the numbers look all wrong for a Marine army....you'll need a lot more drop pods than that!

Small update.

Had a fiddle with green stuff and some old marines to make some stand in scout snipers.

Still need to do the details like shoulder pads and add some flock/grass to the bases but at the moment I'm working on getting them to a basic table top standard
