Just about all of the FW stuff I have bought is of high quality. The Eldar Firestorms, although they are generally of good quality, they have one really bad drawback....the gun barrels of their main armament.

I've just pulled these out of their packet today to start working on them and was really disappointed with how flimsy the gun barrels are, they are whisker thin. They are bent and warped to an extent that has made me decide to fork out for the GW versions. Even heating them in water would do no good......even if I did straighten them to my satisfaction using that method, they would still be terribly fragile and prone to breaking or bending.

I guess I could remove the barrels at the base and replace them with a very thin wire or pins, I'm not sure whether the effort would be worthwhile though.

I so know what you mean. My pack of Firestorm was poop too! I'll most likely use wire or convert them into some Special tank.

I think I must have just got lucky with these. Mine were all fairly straight and pretty well intact. There was a little warpage, but nothing that I couldn't fix after a blast with the hairdryer.

They're obviously pretty fragile, but I've manage to keep them intact so far.

Both packs I bought were sh$thouse, so I ended up going with the SG version.

More F/W non-gamer friendly, fragile, delicate gaming pieces ... ::)

Ive had similar problems with the FW basilisks, the barrels were bent, the platforms for the non existing crew were warped and the railing is so flimsy you cant even get rid of the excess flash thats on them without destroying them.
Resin only works for more bulky miniatures on 6mm. (Shadowswords, Thunderbolts,...)

I got one bag Boardsides
which were made out of the new darker(grey) resin forgeworld seems to use
and they had a pretty good quality compared with the older ones
- just one leg broken
-NO antenna missing or broken!!
-all guns intact
-okay some were bend but that was not a big problem for me
since I converted some

the new resin seems not that crisp

If all models were out of this resin
I would fear Forgeworld products no more ;D

mine broken upon handling so i turned them into objective makrers in part and just ordered SG ones and they ar like little rocks by comparison.
which is a real shame because the FW models are beautiful.

I just got my pack of epic FW firestorms yesterday, and I have to agree with the OP, those gun barrels are a joke.

However, one thing that did pleasantly surprise me is that the chassis is basically the FW falcon mark II chassis, which is pretty slick looking. Once I get hold of a new fireprism/night spinner, I will probably try making a 3D version of the new turret to fit on this chassis.

In fact, I'll try to make two versions of the turrets - one for the FW chassis and one of the SG chassis. You know me though - that all will take a while.

For CAL001's Firestorms I just drilled a couple of holes in the top of the turret and replaced the barrels with wire ones. The end result was pretty good. I actually think this is a better result than the SG ones.
