I am trying to paint so epic scale stuff in white. Anyone got any good ways of doing this. I tried white plus badab black wash but this looked bad. Maybe try a light gray base with skull white dry brush?

For a cold white, I do it with codex grey then fortress grey then white, for a warmer off-white I go bubonic brown then bleached bone then white.
I think building up light from shadow with dry brushes or highlights works better than washes for white.

Try getting in touch with Forum member Olly who has done lots of weathered white on a titan before: also Curis has some nice white stuff on his website: NinjaBread.

I tend to build up in layers of grey though: if it's something small like an apocathery I try leaving some black in crevices and areas of shadow too.

For really fast white, undercoat in white then wash with a very dilute blue ink.

Fortress Grey, Space Wolves grey can be some nice base colors for cold white. When Painting white, pure white should only be last color placed on the miniature for highlights.

Basecoat white and apply thin wash of bleached bone+scorched brown over it. Ratios are like 20 parts water, 1 part bb, 1/2 parts sb.

My howling banshees are washed with thicker wash and look a bit brownish because of that. Drybrushing white or bleached bone would fix that.
