Absolutely stunning work on the flamer. Brilliantly modelled, very well painted & the base gives it the sense of setting to polish it off a treat. Straight in my inspirations folder with that one! |

Bit of an odd post this, but I’ve decided to re-do all of my epic marines. These marines were done 2 years ago and were the first epic/6mm miniatures I painted. They’re a bit dull but I haven’t posted them on tac-com before, so here are a few pictures before I douse them in power spray, strip them, rebase them, re-spray and repaint them. The new marine force will be considerably larger (full 1st, 3rd and 5th Coy, with additional elements from 7th, 8th and 10th and armoury support) and able to be actually used to make competitive lists (having some terminators, Thawks and more than 2 stand of assault marines should help there... ) LoTD were the very first There were a few BT And then some BAs painted with 3 differnt attempts at red bye-bye old marines |

Haha, the middle BT Rhino looks like you've painted a Star Wars Scout Trooper's head on the side-hatch! That aside, the BA pix really remind me how very much I miss my old BA army from back in the days of SM2/TL; the first GW and wargame I ever got into, and the start of my long love affair with Epic! Yep, I got into wargaming long before I played HQ or SH or Talisman, and I had a huge Imperial army (I could field any company or detachment!) Sigh. One day, I'll do a new BA army... Anyway, looking forward to seeing what you end up doing with your Marines - do you have a specific Chapter in mind yet? |

Not certain but the colour scheme will probably be similar to the Sons of Orar, with slightly more muted colours and plenty of weathering. I want them to be usable with most of the marine lists (codex, scoins, BA, BT, Wscars, Rguard etc etc) so keeping away from the main chapters colour scheme wise. I also wanted to avoid choosing a chapter that forge world would make new stuff for, after id start on the army nothing amazing conversions wise, just want a large, solid force to play about with. A can of red spray paint has been ordered |

Well, you could always go Pre-Heresy if you want? This would allow you to make the best use of all the old-skool models too, and Chapters like the BAs are very 'vanilla' in that period... Plus it gives you an excuse to model the Primarch as a Supreme Commander! |

Major_Gilbear wrote: Well, you could always go Pre-Heresy if you want? This wold be fun and id like to so a small heresy force at some point. But, on a larger scale i would find the anachronism hard to justify given my lack of anything else pre-heresy. Im fine using the older vehicles, simple because i have plenty and the new ones are expensive Anyway no sign of the spray paint for the marines so here are 4 jungle sentinels, decided to build them vanilla rather than adding flamer/ccw as the deathworld army has a distinct lack of AT as it is. |

Very nice. Are the trees on the bases actual twigs or do you sculpt them? |

Helge wrote: Very nice. Are the trees on the bases actual twigs or do you sculpt them? Actual twigs (magnolia for the larger and bonsai beech for the smaller). Snapped off at a branching in the twig and inverted, the bulge of the branch looks like roots. For the sentinels i forgot to dust the trunks with green and red chalks, so they look less realistic the the previous. |
