Hi. I'm planning to start soon scratchbuilding some chimeras for IG, and I got measures out of the 40k versions, so I can create a nice template on the computer. Problem is, math's not my strongest asset, so to say, so I have no clue by how much I will have to scale them down for Epic. Any help? Thanks! |

40k is 28mm, Epic 6mm.. so devide sizes in 40K by 4 2/3.. |

40k is more like 30mm these days; that's what forgeworld used for their calculation. They scaled everything at a 1/5 from 40k to epic. That's what most fan development has used too. |

I tend to aim for 1:5, but most things i do come out larger than that in the end |

A 1:5 ratio tends to provide the most pleasing result. |

Concur, but liberties are taken on an as-needed basis. |

Agreed, some of the smaller weapons must be scaled up slightly, for example the Heavy Stubbers on the side of my Vanquisher tank's gun barrel are a bit thicker than they should be if scaled on a true 1:5 ratio. As are the lascannons on my Malcafloors. |

Thanks guys that was exactly the kind of info I needed! I won't use any 3D/stl wizardry for my project, just plain old plasticard and green stuff + various bits, so weapons and other stuff will be done on a "what's in the bitz box" basis. But I wanted to be sure I wasn't going to build an army of Baneblade-sized chimeras! :-) |
