I've finally started assembling my FW Reaver - it's my first Titan, and also my first imperial vehicle. I'm going to be a bit ambitious with this project - this model is getting the following: - Semi-scenic base with building (another first for me); - Re-posed leg and toes - treading on the building; - Custom weapon fit (See my "lucifer-pattern powerfist" thread); - Slightly re-vamped old school colour scheme - "Imperial Fists", in "candy-apple" style blue and solid red, with heraldic markings (if I can make them look any good) Does anyone know if there are any custom decals for Epic Titans? I found some markings for 40K sized ones over at BoLS, but I can't seem to find anything for smaller-scale machines. I ordered some parts from Bits&Kits (for an as-of-yet unrevealed epic project), and I couldn't resist fitting some of them to the Reaver. The Sentinal Hunter Killer Missile fits well, and I liked the Missile launcher so much that it has replaced the standard one: ![]() ![]() I used part of the vindicator shell winch and terminator teleport homer to make this building for the base: ![]() ![]() Next job: Repose the leg. More photos on my Photobucket. |

Last night I worked on the legs. I started by cutting off the hydraulics to the right leg. I was planning to remove them entirely, along with the mounting brackets but they are kind of integral to the design, so I might put them back on later. ![]() I cut the leg off at the hip, leaving enough of the joint to allow for a pin. ![]() Larger. I cut the lower leg away below the knee, and smoothed it out. I re-scribed the detail of the knee joint. ![]() I sanded down a section of plastic tube, and cut off about 1mm. I glued that section to the top of the lower leg to keep it the same length as the left-hand leg. ![]() Finally I drilled into the hip section to fit the pin. ![]() |

Looking great. You're a brave man for hacking up such shiny resin ![]() Nice use of the Sentinel missile launcher too. What other weapons will we be seeing? The Sentinel Hunter Killer makes a great Deathstrike... Might steal that idea for my next Warlord. |

Kudos on the use of the Sentinel bits, never would have thought of that. I'm really looking forward to seeing this guy come together. |

This is looking promising. I may be brave enough to have a go - I do have 4 of the damned things - thanks FW for messing up my order 3 times before they got it right! Gonna need a few titan weapons to replace all those missile launchers. D. |

I feel your pain there deamonkin - I panic-bought this Reaver when I heard about FW stopping Epic as I'd had my eye on one for ages. I was another victim of the mislabelling as well, and although I emailed about it I never got a reply. All the alternate weapons are because I got one with 3 missile launchers - its a mixed blessing really, as without that mistake I would never have started this project or delved into the interesting world of 3D printing. Anyway, more progress was made today. I cut away the flash from the feet, which was a bit nerve-wracking as the toe connections are quite thin. ![]() I drilled the hip, ready to take the pin: ![]() here is the hip assembly: ![]() ![]() I mocked-up the leg assembly, here: ![]() |

Looking at options for the pose: ![]() ![]() Now I come to look at the photos, I might rotate the building backwards, and then rotate the body further to the right. Finally I painted up the building, trying to make it look a bit grimy and used. ![]() |

Quote: By ragnarok | Posted on Jan. 23 2010, 21:19 Good luck with this.  Repositioning Reaver legs is a pain.  All those hydrulics to replace.  I gave up afgter one Reaver. I see what you mean. I concluded today that I couldn't replace the hydraulics due to the position, and so I cut them all off: ![]() I added some extra detail top the leg areas and the groin, to make up for the lack of hydraulics: ![]() More thinking about the pose - below are mock-ups of the 2 ideas I have in mind. Which looks the best? ![]() ![]() |
