I've been mulling over doing something medium sized before starting on my next big CAD project, a Reaver.

Anyways, I was thinking of doing a Supa-Stompa (what 40k calls simply a Stompa).

I'd probably do some cool stuff, like modelling internal details, maybe also having some Ork crewmen that could be put inside it.

As with my other large robot CADddings, I'd hope for Forgeworld to become interested in producing it.

This is a 40k scale Stompa, which I'd use as the basis for the design:
Ork Stompa

According to the standard 1:5 size reduction, it'd end up about 5cm tall.

Anyone got any ideas to throw into the mix?

This would be really cool :)

And i have some Tyranid creatures in mind but i guess it has to be something non-organic?

Other things would be a debigurized FW Ork "Deathrolla" and "Kerusha" Battlefortresses. Or the Skullhamma.
If you make a Stompa do you include parts for the Big Mek Stompa, Kustom Stompa, Klarstompa and Rock'n'Rolla?

Nurgle Plaguereaper would be cool too (but i guess only the Turret is needed as you can use FW Baneblade for this). Or Tower of Skulls? A new Plague Tower of Nurgle?

What about a Stormlord? Pretty difficult to convert.

I'd upgun it a lot, those piddly little ecuses for cannons on its arms don't fit with my perception of orkiness at all. Of course thats just my opinion

Well, I wouldn't really fancy it. Possibly because I wonder if CAD can properly do Orks but also because I quite like the current supa stompa and old mekboy gargant.
How about a stormlord heresy era transport instead? :)
Or some nifty conversion kits for marine vehicles? (Land Raider, rhino and pred.)
Or some upscaled to match the present day mk1 gear for chaos (what I'd really like!)?
Or other chaos kit like a wheel or decimator? Or even the current chaos (BFG?) fighter?
Or you work yourself to the bone locked in a tower here in India? :)

I'm not a big fan of the 40k Stompa/Supa-Stompa. I think it could probably be fantastic with fairly minimal modification, but as it is it looks too much like it's wearing a muumuu.

Flamestrom Cannons, Hurricane Bolter and dual Twin Heavy Bolter Sponsons for Land Raiders would be cool. Then add some Frag Launchers and sensors and the Land Raider Upgrade Kit would be ready :)

The SG model is utterly horrid, so there is definitely merit to making another version of the Mekboy Gargant/Supa-Stompa.

I'd steer clear of the current 40K design and go with something novel.  Less flower pot with stick arms and more stompy...possibly swinging a massive Kombat 'Ammer or Mega-Choppa. :agree:

As others have said, why not make something that is unavailable??

Death Wheel, Chaos Titans etc.

My skill set is more suited to hardline modelling.

Boring. :)

Not sure what a Rock'n'Rolla is, nor a Klarstompa, but I can't imagine it not being pretty adaptable.

I'd like to concentrate on items that Forgeworld might find appealing, which generally means either really important stuff that's missing from the current Epic lines, or Titans like Stompas.

I've considered it, and might well do one in time, but there's more fun stuff to do first I think.

Honestly, I've never liked the aesthetic of the Death Wheel, it's just not something I can get enthused about as I don't feel it really "fits" in 40k, where Titans are generally big lumbering things that move pretty slowly and then you have a wacky giant wheel zipping everywhere.

Also "Reaver" has made a Death Wheel and a Decimator.

Or even the current chaos (BFG?) fighter?

Can't see myself doing that, considering that I view its inclusion in the Black Legion list as a mistake, at best.

Given time it's certainly my plan to do Chaos Titans, and possibly variant carapace pieces that convert them to the alliegance of particular gods / particular loyalist Titan Legions...

Whilst I may have a bash at some variant Land Raider weapons in the fullness of time, at least for the moment I won't do a Land Raider Crusader.
