Ive wanted to do Fall colors on an army for a long time.  Now that Im doing some 6mm, I figure, "Why not!"

The problem I am seeing is that Woodland Scenics only has their Fall-colored flock in Coarse Turf (http://woodlandscenics.woodlandscenics. ... CoarseTurf) which may not scale correctly on the bases of Space Marines and Eldar.

My plan is/was to buy all 3 fall colors, plus a dark green and a medium brown-ish fine turf, and do some mixing.  I was thinking 2 parts dark green, 1 part brown, 1 part each of the red, orange and yellow.  Stir it all up and hope for a decent resemblance to a nice Fall carpet.

Has anyone used the Coarse Foliage?  I wonder how it would mix with some Blended/Fine turf, and if the colored clumps would just look too silly and big?

If this isnt a valid solution, does anyone know another manufacturer of fine blended fall colors for bases?

I use fine turf with sprigs of course here and there mixed with clump foliage. I'm pretty happy with the results for the most part.

Care to share a pic, by chance?  Thanks for the reply.

Look for Vaaish's painting blog. He has some great pics of his well-painted and flocked infantry.

I used woodland scenics coarse turf for my 'nids; check em out the blog to get an idea but i quite liked it in the end.
Wouldn't use it for some armies but it's worth a go.

I read through your log.  Good stuff!  I think the coarse flock should be ok.  Now to invest in like $50 of the material because it comes in such huge quantities :)
