Greetings all. I haven't done much gaming or painting this year due to real life getting in the way but I'm hoping the run up to xmas will be a little more stable. Unfortunately I like to procrastinate and jump from one project to the next and without some sort of deadline I tend to loose focus. Therefore I'm looking to start off TOEG 2009, starting in August. Rules/Guidlines: Purchase (or grab out of endless box of unpainted models) 25 pounds or equivalent worth of models and have them painted by the end of each month. Duration: 5 months (Aug-Dec 09) Outcome: Participants will have a painted army ready for the holiday season and the praise/admiration of their online colleges for being so productive. To join simply start a new thread with the TOEG09 prefix and get cracking on the paint brush. I'm going to cheat and start later tonight but I figure that is ok because my 4month old son has a knack of disrupting any painting attempts. I'm open to suggestions/alterations but most of all I'd love others to sign up and give me a reason to stay focused. Last time i did this was in 2005 and i managed to finish a sizeable blood angels force. Vanvlak did an awesome orkamedies force and there were some others that made it most of the way through IIRC. Cheers Ortron |

wow, Just checked the GW UK site, seems prices have climbed some since I last looked. Perhaps 25 pound will be too small? My first month was going to be 7 Chimera & 3 hellhounds and something else but that's over 30 pound with just those two items. |

Id be interested in joining in, how are OOP models valued? by comparing to equivalent sized current SG range minis or ebay prices? I think the simplest way would be to keep everything based off the SG UK price list. If something doesn't have an equivalent anymore then just come up with a price you think is accepable based on current range.  Eg old leviathan is approx = to a superheavy. I'm also happy for people to do "parts" of a SG purchase, eg painting 2 tanks when the SG pack is 4, and saying it equals half the SG cost. Converstion work should probably not be costed. It's just there to add bling/show off ![]() any other points? |

Have you seen this thread about the one over at Warseer? It's not just epic stuff, but then gives us an opportunity to display epic stuff to people not familiar with it. I've signed up for a 3,000k epic Eldar Exodite army in a year with that one and would likely cross-post stuff here anyway so happy to do so as part of this. Could we use FW prices for their stuff or should we translate it to SG prices? How should I price my unreleased Eldar Exodites? (I paid pennies for them as a member of GW staff at the time but they can go for ludicrous prices like £75-100ish for a set of 4 on ebay) |

Thanks GlynG, I hadn't seen that other thread. It is appealing but over a whole year I'd probably find work getting in the way. As for costing those really OOP or hard to get models.. well i dunno.. pick a comparable size lump of metal I suppose. Its not meant to be an enforced limit with strict conditions. I think we simply set a base limit for people to work to and keep them ticking over with a meaningful amount each month. I might try both forums but at least here I have the pressure to do a decent job. On warseer with 50million other poster I wouldn't care if I missed a deadline here and there because I don't usually follow the site or know many of the people. Still its a great suggestion and one I intend to follow up on from time to time. |

Hey this comes at about the right time for me too, I also agree that doing it on warseer with about 80 others feels a bit impersonal and wouldn't really give me the motivation to carry on that doing it here would. I just recently decided to tot up how many points of unpainted AMTL/Skitarii I have and it came to a rather unexpected and somewhat scary minimum of 14,000 pts. I might go down the route of picking a core 3,000 pt force and then painting ~600 pts or £25 (whichever comes first) a month. I was just trying out some tester schemes on a chimera (designated "Smik", see tsoalr.com) last night and I'm all ready to go! |

Now that I'm settled into my new apartment and own a digicam, I might join in. |

This is true, ive just been looking at prices and a single warlord is £30 ![]() eg: Infantry stand (inc bikes etc) = 1 Light Vehicle =1 APC/AFV/Fighter/Fighter-bomber= 1 or 2? Bomber = 3 War machines = 2 + 1 per DC point If a points system was used there would be no issue with OOP/FW/EW/DRM. |

Maybe doing it by points might be easier? Everyone knows their own points but not necessarily current pricing. |

GlynG's suggestion on going by points is an excellent one. I'd certainly be up for this, great motivation to paint squats! |

Ok then, by popular demand and ridiculous pricing by GW we will change it to a points system. Each month paint 500-1000pts worth of forces from a Epic Armageddon or NetEpic list. By the end of the 5 months we will each have a force between 2500 and 5k. Plenty for a decent game of epic regardless of th system. How does this sound: Monthly minimum = 500pts (either system)? I'll try and get the first post up of my guard tomorrow. |

500 point minimum sounds good ![]() now i just need to choose an army: squats, chaos, orks... or a renagade zoat collective! ![]() Ill aim for 1000 pts the first 2 months and the minimum after that (back to uni then). |

500 + pts sounds bang on the money. I've worked out a probably ambitious 5,000 point skitarii armylist to paint to, and I'll start a thread tonight for it. Good luck everybody. |
