any veteran eldar painters out there recommend a colour to undercoat/prime eldar? I've been using black undercoat exclusively for the last 10 years or so, but I've always painted darker coloured armies.... so I'm wondering whether it's better to start with a white spray for the vibrant eldar colours?

What color are you planning on painting them?

probably a variant of biel tan, lots of greens, although I quite like Zharr-tan which is a bit darker.... I want them to be bright and vibrant rather than my dark, muddy guard.....

I'd probably go with white primer.

This guy was primed Testors grey, base coated Snot Green, washed with Trakka Green (I think that's the green GW wash) and then highlighted. White primer would have probably had him a little lighter but not much. Black would have meant a lot more highlighting.

I used the Army Painter colored primers once. They are rougher than spray paint (because, they're well... a primer) and I wasn't a fan of that.

White. Colored sprays might work, but white undercoat will give you the boldest colors.

I've used the army painter brown for skaven and it was great, I misted the wolf gray one on my tanks and it too was great, but the black primer is shiny and went on very thick..... not impressed so far.....

Colour or black for vehicles, then build up the green.

White for the troops as they need to pop, and guardians are white in any case ;)

Or buy my Biel Tan off me :)

although I have most of my eldar already, I'd potentially be interested in some of your stuff..... would you consider splitting at all?

White, if you do use the Biel-Tan color scheme which is white on the underside.

I use white on all my Biel-Tan Eldar too. I started them before I found oh great Army Painter or I would have used a color I bet. If you want brighter shades use White Primer, Black for Darker shades. Right now I've used Chainmail AP on my IG/AM and Angel Green on my FoW 101st Airborne. Also stoked that there releasing their own paints that 100% match the primers! Makes life better, something I was worried about.

What primer would you use on dark green infantry? I am thinking of going for Il-Kaithe Craftworld rather than Biel-Tan, so will have purple as secondary colour (and for larger figures some bleached bone as tertiary colour to represent Wraithbone).
