Over at Warseer, there is a sign-up thread for their Tale of 40K Painters for next year, starting August 1st. You might wonder why I post this here, but since last year, Epic and BFG painters are welcome as well. This year's tale has seen 5 Epic armies (2 of mine) reaching 3000 points or more, and two BFG fleets as well.

The concept is similar to the "painting challenge" on this forum. Paint 1/10th of your selected army size every month and enjoy two "free" months when you can take care of the hassles of life outside Epic.

I heartily recommend it as a collective endeavour of putting all those models in the closet into functional, painted armies.

Moreover, I see it as a huge opportunity for the Epic community to spread a little 6mm love into the world of 28mm.

Hmm. I'm almost tempted. I have just started an army, after all, so it might be quite helpful. But it's an AMTL army, so I'm not sure that wouldn't be cheating (I have two months to paint this Reaver! How will I ever manage?).

I do not think that is cheating. The aim of the tale is to get painted armies on tables all over the world. If I recall it correctly, you show off a WIP shot of your Titan for one month, and the finished for next month. If you paint faster, you can always go for more points.

And GlynG, glad to have you along. Looking forward to your "obscure army for an under-supported (favourite) specialist game". I hope you get your own faction as well. ;)

@studdering dave: Thanks for the support. If you ever feel like "fiddling" with an army, 300 points a month, you know where to go ;)

Even after my failure in the last painting pledge here I've just signed up.

Going to get my recently acquired nids for this.

Just signed myself up for 3k Orks, 3k Space Marines and 3k+ of Imperial Guard

Still suppose I should paint all those purchases before the other half finds out  :)

I signed up for 3000 points of Orks. It's my second oldest army and it has not been painted at all.

Looks interesting, I think I'll have to give this a go - I'm tempted to do both an epic and a 40k army, but part of me thinks that might be too much. Epic shouldn't really be a problem (drybrush ftw)..

I would be interested but we are doing something similar at my local gaming club. Looks to be the same rules so probably inspired by Warseer idea.

I hope that because it is local and will thus get to see the results on gaming table that hopefully this wil act as an extra impetus to completing the project.

I am hoping to use this to complete my Iron Warriors, initially for W40k and hopefully if I can get ahead of myslef, also for Epic and BFG.

Cheers

James

Another pertinent Simpsons quote:

Will you be joining this foray Otterman? I sense the Ottonian Guard are aching for war.

Of course I have my own selfish reasons for this (moar armour)..

You know, I don't think I've ever seen pictures of O-man's painted works.
