I've decided that i need to add a Thunderhawk to my epic Ultramarines. Since my whole force is the classic style i think scratch building one or two of the old boxy style ones is very possible. Has anyone ever tried it and might have some advice?

You mean this one ... the Thunderbrick ? If you need a couple of those someone here may have some. This was not a very favored version of the Thunderhawk ... :-\

Hi!

I think I had less of an issue with the thunderbricks looks than its size. Too small.

Yup. Those guys. I'm aiming at them because I think they can be scratch built easy and cheap. This has been a little side project since mainly no one around here plays Epic to my knowledge. It's just something I've wanted to do for a while. I've been slowly snagging bits and I have nearly a 3000 point force. I think a Thunderhawk would be a fun add and decent if I ever get to play.

Agreed. I actually quite liked the look of the beast. Sensible? No. But it very much matched the exaggerated Gothic aesthetic of the 2nd Edition game.

Still, when you see 40 marines pile out of one, you can't help but think of clown cars. (But I still use them!)

Jerseyboy, good luck on your project!

are you looking to match the most recent metal GW thunderhawk or the Resin FW variant in size?

if it's the latter I think you'd need to seriously up the detail as otherwise it will end up being a featureless box, maybe take some inspiration from Warmaster Nice's upscaled capitol imperialis, or alternatively have a look at what moredakka is doing with his imperator scratchbuild, I'd go for the nice boxy shape with some form of battlement and using as much gothic detail is as humanly possible ;)

Hi!

Probably the best use of those ugly models I have seen. :)

Hi

They look great.

You have so many uses for them as they look like WWII German or British scout cars.
