Yep, both at the true 1:5 scale that Forgeworld likes.

Before I properly embark upon the creation of the lower legs, I'd like some opinions on their shape and design, here's the beastie so far:

Oh my, I had some doubts when you started the project but now....it looks so beautiful, and the carapace gun ports are far more magnetisable than the current warlord, I'd take six providing either availability of extra guns or adapatability to old plastic guns (latter would be more awesome)

As for the legs, I do think one of the flaws with the current warlord is the...insanely thin waist...or at least better protection on hip servos, asides from that they're quite nice legs in concept.

I dont mean to sound coarse, but isn't he missing something between his legs?

For me the knees look a little odd, but I guess that's something I could grow to like, I think the true telling of whether it works or not will all be in the ankles.

While people formulate opinions and think of interesting things, I'm playing with leg positions, here's a nice walking pose:

I know what you mean, the open space between the two cog bits is quite unusual, but I liked it so it stuck.

As for his groin, I've not gotten up the courage to tackle that yet, mainly because the legs are more fun.  :vD

Give me a Titan thats walking, or the possibility of legs that are moulded in pieces to be posed and I will worship you as a god.

The titans legs will be three main pieces: Hip. Thigh. Shin. So fully posable if we can get the model produced.

I have some opinions on the lower legs:

I think you should try to mimic the FW Reaver's toe articulation, meaning that the 'metatarsal' parts should extend up into the shin plate. That would go a long way to making them look like the results of the same design philosophy. I think doing this would also make the robot a bit more believable, since this is exactly how the feet of very heavy animals work. I might even suggest looking into how elephant or dinosaur feet are articulated, and copy those.

In addition, past WLs' shin armor has always been much wider than the upper leg armor. Every previous WL has bell-bottom-like legs, and I think that if you could come up with an equivalent look, it would be worth the effort. In fact, all GW imperial titans follow the wide leg and bottom, narrow leg at top pattern. I think that if you want people to be able to look at this robot and say, "hey, I bet that's the new WL titan," you have to follow the design cues that appear in the previous marks. Take a good hard look at each of the previous versions of the model, and make a list of design details that give it the character of a WL. Base your re-imagining of the robot on that list.

I'd say that’s definitely worth sacrificing the odd virgin every month for.

Another detail that I think would look make the robot better is if you split the top/center carapace down the middle, and put all the engine vent detail down the trench that would be formed. I also want to say that the shoulder armor ought to be a bit more massive, almost like american football shoulder pads.

I agree- the revised picture looks far better. The ideal would be to have the legs in such a way that can get a few different poses. If you have a Warlord Titan Battle Group then you dont want all the legs to be in identical pose such as Mk1 Beatleback.

Cheers

James

I found a good picture of the structure of an elephant foot on wikipedia under "Comparative foot morphology"

The FW Reaver uses the same feet/chin design

I would prefer if the Warlord uses a similar design. Perhabs with 5 toes as the drawing in Apocalypse.
It would be great if the legs wpuld be fully posable but with this complex toe design it would be rather difficult?
