I have a few small simple pieces missing from a couple of rare OOP miniatures I paid a fair amount for on ebay. I was wondering if it might be possible to clone the ones I do have to complete the missing parts, but I have no clue how to, or how to stop it sticking together.

Anyone able to advise? Maybe our friendly neighbourhood Otter?

Sorry, I don't know much about greenstuff molds, except that I could never get them to work. That's why I went to silicon molds.

I've tried a couple in my time,

It works best for small flat parts like insignia and the like, for exmple I cast a tiny panel which made up the headlights on a 40k scale landraider and that came out ok. From what I found getting the right amount of oil is key.

My most recent attempts haven't really been up to scratch though (stormhammer turrets). Anything I've produced has been lopsided and/or lacking a lot of detail such as clearly defined hatches etc. I'd advise only relying on it for smaller inconspicuous pieces as I  dont think it can hold a lot of detail and doesn't seem to work on the size parts I'm interested in.

I bought those 3 tanks under the assumption I'd be able to re-cast the 2 missing large turrets and 8 missing smaller turrets from the 1 complete tanks worth I had. I'll be following how you do with interest as I still need to recreate these turrets unless anybody can put me in touch with somebody who has spares. Incidently whilst I'm rambling pred anhilator turrets on a stormhammer make an awesome stormhammer anhilator.

I use canola oil (crisco in US?) as a release agent. Works great. It's really only suitable for stuff that you'd be able to do with zero undercuts and a mainly flat surface, it won't really do turrets very well if they have side detail or gun barrels unless they are flush with the base of the turrent, and then you'll only get a half barrel.

Ive done it for things like titan feet and shoulder pads using super fine white milliput, I put the milliput in a bottle cap, meaning I always have a hard surface to press into . Pretty much anything oily seems to work as a release agent - I’ve even used sachets of salad dressing from the uni canteen without issue.

Used this for 40k Iron Hands should pad insignia some time ago. Worked fine  Greenstuff and vaseline.
