Any news on how FW are at the moment? Been some bad news on this front recently... taking a long time to arrive, and casting problems.

Some friends after Warhounds, superheavies, myself after a Squiggoth or four.

I ordered a fair amount a couple of months back,

Arrived within the week and no real problems, a few bent earthshaker barrels which I teased back into shape and I was missing a couple of the small twin linked heavy bolter turrets for a set of baneblades. I'm sure they would've sorted that for me but I was lazy and kept putting off phoning them, too late now  :sulk:

I ordered from them a couple weeks ago. 4 Warhounds, Grey Knight Strike Cruiser, and some epic buildings. All arrived in about 2 weeks and, with the exception of some bad mold lines in the warhounds legs, all was swell. I live in the US, so i didnt think this was a bad turnaround.

Will you guys quit monkeying around?  :p

I've ordered lots of stuff over the years from FW, but nothing in the last two years.  My last few orders were such low quality that I have sworn off FW.

UK delivery seems to take about 2 weeks at the moment, regarding quality Thunderhawk transporters+GK Land Raiders have been fine. Especially the GK - maybe they got a new mould?
Only problems have been missing bits - though thanks to that I have twice my order now :agree:
Previous to that though I abandoned using FW for eldar due to the awful rears on falcons+firestorms.

Personally, I haven't seen any casting problems with FW beyond what has been present in other manufacturer's resin model kits.  I've experienced far worse over the years with GW's metal models and plastics.

I'd guess that some of the issues that people have commented on like missing bits/poor casts is due to high demand and not enough QC to cover the bases.  That's probably why FW is fairly liberal with sending out replacement bits.

Just picked up an epic squiggoth here and it's fine except for flash on the tusks.  Nothing major, and it arrived in about 2 weeks.

Personally, I haven't seen any casting problems with FW beyond what has been present in other manufacturer's resin model kits.

GW and FW are amongst the worst of the manufacturers I have bought stuff from, bad mold lines are very common especially in 6mm (ie GW marine tanks) and warping and other problems often occur in all Forge World stuff (both 6mm and 40K), both GW and FW have a tendancy to send out incorrect kits, parts and kits with missing parts (they are really good at fixing up these problems but it kind of sucks if you put projects on hold and notice problems like this months or years after making the order).

FW seems to have difficulty coping with their volume of orders at times and it appears that they are taken out of the mold too quick or something so things can warp badly and quality control of packing can be hit and miss.

They are also quite inconsistent with clipping off flash and other molding features.  Sometimes they are clipped of neatly and tidied up and other times you have huge chunks of resin to clip off and have to risk having other bits of the model snap off during the rough handling.

Other manufacturers I have used (ie DRM, Warmachine Miniatures, many other fantasy and sci fi 28mm miniatures) have practically no mold lines at all and seem to have much greater care taken in ensuring the correct parts end up in kits and no casting flaws are sent out to customers.

Of the specific stuff you have mentioned:
*The Giant Squigoth casts came out very well last time I got one;
*All Warhounds I have seen need a bit of carving and reworking to get rid of substantial mold lines and bod lining up of halves;
*Most of the superheavy tanks are quite good but they tend to have a few issues around the frount and back of the tracks.

Personally I still chose to get them and they can be cleaned up to look really good with a scalpel and some care.
