I've been nosing around for aircraft on E-bay to provide top cover/escorts for my orcs and SMs -- Ork FBs seem rather expensive, and Imperials even moreso.  So I ended up grabbing three 1/300 F-15s... And, fatally inspired, I just put in an order for a relatively random assortment of 1/300 WWII and Korean War aircraft to use as proxies for my ork and Imperial FBs. Speaking of which, what historical proxies strike you as good proxies for ork/imperial aircraft? Sabers and Mig-15s seem like naturals... though they need to be 'dirtied up.  Stukas and A-10s also score highly on the 'ungainly enough to be orky' scale. Any other thoughts?  and experience with particular miniatures? |

I think an OV-10 Bronco would make a really good proxy for a Vulture. However, I don't know of anyone who makes them in 6mm. |

I use the old Crimson Skies metals for my Orky fighta-bommaz: ![]() ![]() You might be able to find the plastic ones for cheap, too, and some of them would also make decent Imperial planes; I'll see if I can find some pics of them to post. |

I got 1/300 British Lancasters and Hurricanes to act as Marauders and Thunderbolts respectively, though that was years ago and they're still sitting untouched in the bottom of my Epic box.  Scotia Grendel, IIRC.  They're good enough, although the panel lines and canopies are a bit wonky, I have to cut out and replace miscast, broken, and wobbly gun barrels (or convert Epic weapons on 'em), and the wings bend if you breathe on them. And that's why they're still sitting untouched in the bottom of my Epic box. The Crimson Skies planes look fun. I might have a closer look at the range. |
