And who's to say the Mk whatever rhino didn't appear moments before the Horus Heresy? I mean, Chaos SMs have mk7 power armor too. Scale model picket fences for the spike rails is the only idea I have. |

I think it depends on the Legion/Chapter really. Khorne would probably have spikes, combat attachments of some description. Nurgle, battle damage, rusty finish, pockmarks, that sort of thing. The Thousand Sons vehicles would probably look the same as Loyalist ones apart from the colour scheme (the TS don't really go for spikes and so on, doesn't fit with their automaton character) although other Tzeentch forces could be anything goes. For Slaanesh, lots of snazzy decoration is probably the way to go, golds and rich colours, maybe a few spikes and the like as well. Undivided Chapters - well the WB get lots of devotional text and scrollwork, the Night Lords have terror markings and trophys, BL generally seem to go the spiky route, and more reecently fallen Chapters probably look fairly similar to their loyalist counterparts bar their iconography (in many cases at least). As for how they have more recent models of Rhino... they steal them, they are produced by traitor forgeworlds, they took the designs when they conquered Mars in the Heresy, there are lots of ways the Traitors can have access to more up to date equipment. Its doubtful their stuff would work so well after 10,000 years of combat if they couldn't replace stuff that was damaged or destroyed. |

So long as GW keeps pushing out new revamped releases for old models there will always be "present" versions of Chaos too... disengage your doubts, suspend your disbelief... or only use old stuff for Chaos. (I think if Space Marines where still going over to Chaos there would be some serious Inquisitorial questioning going on). Anything in the GW genre can be best described as a kick ass adventure film... best enjoyed while mildly drunk and with little to no thought required... or recommended.  ![]() As to how best to show them as a Chaos Rhino. Greenstuff and tentacles for Nurgle, Pink/Purple Warp Flames for Tzeentch, Chains and blades for Slaanesh black with pink trim... and spikes and skulls for Khorne and most others... it's what I hope to do one day... when I can be arsed. ![]() |

Hey, that's some really nice ideas. I like the Battlewagon skull front and spikes. I use the gun turrets for my PDF Sabres and the Bonebreaka Gun Turret for my PDF Mammoth Tank |

Nurgle stuff is by far the easiest to make. A few bubols or mould from greenstuff and you got a convincing Nurgle army. The other chaos powers take a bit more work, but the Battlewagon skulls is definitely a good starting point for Khorne vehicles. Throw in some Forge Worls brass etched Khorne symbols (Khorne likes brass) and I think you should have a fairly distinct army already. Slaanesh could be covered simply by using outrageous colors. Tzeentch I'm less sure of. I'm painting my own Black Legion without any conversion work at all. PArtily because I'm lazy, partly because I wanted a fairly plain looking faction of my Chaos force for a change. |

Indeed. Those Nurglings look good thou! ![]() I'm probably looking more for traitor than chaos. And follow the lead from X-men (I think it was), "Why does only the bad guys get nifty costumes?". Still very much undecided as for factions. But it feels like Khorne/Nurgle or Slaanesh/Tzeentch. Problem would be that raptors and flyers would come from Tzeentch (Screamers, Firelords and Doomwings). |

Quote: (Warmaster Nice @ 26 Mar. 2009, 17:06 ) Tzeentch I'm less sure of. What about sculpting an eye on each Rhino? It's not that difficult, even for a sculpting newb like me. ![]() |

That's a great idea. Replacing the vision slits on a Rhino with eyes would be very much Tzeentch's sense of quirky humor. Obviously you need to take care that it doesn't start to look like something out of Thomas the Tank Engine, but still. I feel tempted to make a few of my own if you don't mind me nicking the idea  ![]() |

Ok folks, you've talked me into a pro-modern black legion force. Defiler - Knight Paladin Decimator - Shadowsword Bike - Juggernaught Raptor - Screamer Forlorn - Fiends Spanking new Rhino, MkIII Predator and Land Raider; all metal. That works? |

I have just finished some rhinos for my Dearth Guard, they don't look too bad. I will post some pics soon. |
