Well, my small batch of Christmas Tau finally showed up... after Canadian Customs took a bite... and two Broadsides are missing... but, other than that, they're here and I'm happy!  *laugh*

Just trying to decide what kind of colour scheme to get them.

So far, I've got:

6 Railgun Hammerheads
3 Skyrays
6 Devilfish (I'll be getting some DRM Kraytonian Bodyguards to use as Fire Warriors!)
8 Crisis Suits
4 (should be 6) Broadsides
4 stands of Stealths
1 Command Pack

So, pitch in and help me... cuz I don't want to break these things on my own!

I voted for a "Red Mars" look. I guess that's a bit like a terracotta or red brick. Definitely not "go-fasta" red.

I've always seen the Tau as an Imperial Guard with a higher tech level. So utilitarian and "militaristic" colors work well for them.

Besides, who's seen a brick red colored Tau army? I think with your skills you could pull it off nicely.

I chose Urban Camo. It is cool and makes sense in that they are often found fighting amongst the ruins of failed/failing civilisations like the Imperium. Besides...

Personally I quite fancied steering clear of camo colours and painting mine a very bright, strong, mid-orange colour, with dark red and/or brown contrasting details. Never got round to painting them though.

Yeah, it would be a terracotta/brick style red, if I went that route... it's just that I've painted soooo much red for my Khador Warmachine army... *laugh*

I'm trending heavily towards a "camo" pattern, whatever the base colours are.

Tundra white/grey....it would suit the crisp lines of the Tau and look great.  White armies always "pop".

What Marconz said! If you haven't got a bright day glo yellow army yet' then do that! (kidding), if you've not got an army done with an airbrush, explore that, etc; seomthing that makes each of yr armies separate and unique from the others.

My armies and their basic colour schemes:

Space Marines: Desert tan

Imperial Guard: Green and grey "forest" camo

Orks: Yellow, black and tinbitz (Bad Moonz)

Feral Orks: Brown and grey

Chaos Marines: Black and brass (Black Legion)

Chaos Cultist: Mish-mash

Eldar: Turquoise and light grey

Necrons: Silver and black

Tyranids: Red, dark grey, and bone

So... what contrasts with all of that?  *laugh*

go for stormtrooper white and black with red/orange as a detail color.  I saw teh tau army that color at games day big game here in teh usa a few years ago and they look GREAT like that.  

prime black, armor plates white and red doo-dads.  :;):

Well, white and black does sound rather cool but can you really be bothered with all the StarWars stormtrooper jokes? :glare:
