This is an artillery piece from the Nectaris games. The tracks showed up in my "What's Next" (What's Nect?) topic, but I thought the Hadrian deserved its own topic. It's called a Hadrian in the US versions of the games, but a "Nashorn" (German for rhinocerous) in the Japanese reference manual. Here's the current state of the main gun; it still needs some gubbins in the middle, on top, and ends. Note that I fiddle this while I'm waiting for compilation at work and doesn't impact the Defiler work. |

Nice looking weapon. I am curious, do you do other scales besides 6mm? Some great work you have done. Daniel |

My spaceships are of an indeterminate scale, does that count? In general, current 3D printing costs and resolution suggest pieces that are between 1 and 4 cubic centimeters. |

Looks a little Tau-ish so far. Is that intentional? |

Not by me, though I see the resemblance. Here's the source material... |

Just remember that the Tau, like just about everything GW does, is just a series of rip-offs of other people's creative work. There is a reason many call the tau the Anime army. ![]() Daniel |

I declare the cannon part "probably done". It may need some work depending on how I decide to jam it into the body. Keeping it close to this version may improve its potential usefulness to Tau converters. |

That's a cool looking tank. Is that a fun game Otterman? |

I find it to be fun, but I'm not sure why. It may be because of strong nostalgiac tendencies, since I first discovered the game during college (a.k.a. university). The animations (and for the PS, renderings) of tanks shooting each other is somewhat goofy, but I love the turn-based strategy. If you're interested, the cheapest way may be to find a copy on eBay for the PS version (called Nectaris there), since the TurboGrafx-16 emulation is problematic. I play it on a PS2, since it can handle games from the prior version. From a modelling viewpoint, it's fascinating to contrast it with other miniatures. The reference materials are based on the PS version, which had limited rendering abilities. This means the tanks had low polygon counts, and relied on 'skins' to simulate detail. When the reference materials were drawn, they showed the detail as indentations (mostly). This is in direct contrast to most 6mm tanks, which tend to add detail by adding protrusions. |

By PS you mean Playstation right? I thought it was a tabletop wargame. |

Quote: (Malakai @ 26 Dec. 2008, 15:15 ) By PS you mean Playstation right? I thought it was a tabletop wargame. Yes, that's correct, the Playstation. I have also taken to heart Tertius' observation about the Bison inner track detail, but in the case of the Hadrian/Nashorn, that part isn't visible (unless you're below the tank, which is unusual for a miniature game). Next up: figure out if I really want to make the side-top doohicky a separate piece, then figure out how to make a cannon support structure to allow for more than 1 gun position. Getting close! |

99% finished. I just have to decide if I want to change the rear-detail to allow better resin feed. |

I jiggered the central hull and gun such that by snipping off a little tab from the gun allows construction with a 30 degree tilt. The doohickies on the tops of both sides will have to be a separate piece. Changed my mind and added tread detailing to the inside. |

I like this a lot - it's what I'd expect to see humans serving the Tau Empire equipped with... Lovely work, O-man! Regards, Reaver |

Ugh. Rhino tells me that the main gun is a modest .33 cubic centimeters, but the hull is 3 cc. This will cost me a cool $120 for bronze action. |
