Yes, Use the macro function, disable the flash and use natural sunlight. Those are my best ingredients of getting a good picture.

Needs a little more indirect lighting. But what I've seen looks good.

I've asked for this for Christmas:

a simple way to get indirect lighting is to hold a piece of white paper or cardboard over the top of your models when taking the pictures. It will bounce in light and help even things up.

Great work, and welcome back to the fold Karegak!   :;):

Keep it coming!

Thanks again guys!

I'm afraid that you don't see a lot of natural sunlight around these parts of the world after 4 pm. I wish I could use the sun but I'm at work during daylight hours. So we'll have to do with my lamps and flash for the moment being.

Wow Otterman, that looks really nice. Too bad the dollar is strong against the crown again (stop laughing foreigners, that's what we call our money in Sweden) and that customs are cranky. You get a manageable import tax and a ridiculously high handling fee from the post office.

I'll try that trick Vaaish, thank you.

Upon coming home today I noticed in great joy that a parcel from Gamemaniacs, a local gameshop, had arrived. They stock some Forgeworld models for basically the same price as Forgeworld itself. And as Gamemaniacs have their yearly, no shipping until New Year's month I couldn't resist. Domestic shipping being faster and all that. (No bad words for Forgeworld however, they've always been very rapid with all their dispatches to me).

Anyways, I now got the FW Censorium building and some bunkers. It all looks very impressive and has made me want to order more buildings from FW. Now if I only could stop eating for the rest of the month... :glare:

Also, no photo update tonight as I must do some cleaning and packing. My girlfriend and I are moving house in the middle of January. The nice part of it, packing notwithstanding, is that we'll then have an office/hobby room!

I hope that I'll be able to paint some more this week but in worst case it'll have to wait until Monday.

Hah! I got myself one of those, works wonders and is worth every penny. The fold-up white box is a bit of a hassle, but it diffuses light nicely and the tripod works well enough for my camera.

On-topic, nice jungle-looking scheme you're putting together, makes me wish that I was in your area. Might inspire me to finish up my Ork Horde and get a few games in.

Thanks TwilightWalker.

For tonight's update I must admit being a bit disappointed. I assembled and painted a FW Warhound Titan. I did some highlights and then I glazed the model, which made all my highlights go away... Either I need to make them brighter next time or I need to highlight after glazing. Anyways, I'll post a pic of the Warhound, but let's call it a WIP for the moment.

Glazes and washes will tone down highlights so over exaggerate them before you wash. If you wash after highlighting it ties the colors together and if you do it afterwords it will leave them separate. I do both depending on what look I want.

Agreed. Dramatically highlight then wash to tie the colors in together. After that go back and pick out the sharpest highlights.

Ah, I might have figured. Well at least I know how to do it now.

The reason there was no update yesterday, in spite of me painting a lot, was that I had a game with Erik M. Some serious Guard on Guard action with all in all three companies of superheavies on the table. One of them, the only one on my side was the baneblades above as they received their baptism of fire. They did fairly well, mainly in being my BTS and not being destroyed. I got lucky and broke both superheavy companies after criting one tank in each to death. One went down due to an extremely lucky ground attack action by two thunderbolts. Wee! At the end of the day it was a very narrow game that see-sawed back and forth but in the end Erik conceded. He took some pictures so there might be a more in depth report upcoming.

As for painting, I based and detailed a leman russ company, painted the bases of 5 snipers, 1 supreme commander, re-high-lighted (inventing words here, yes sir!) the warhound and based it. Pictures to be posted later this evening after my game with a new opponent and his orks.

Edit: Oh and 6 infantry based and painted as well.

Photo update! (I've been gaming Gogard's Last Stand with a friend all night, hence the delay).

Commissar:

Snipers:

Group shot with Leman Russes:

I missed the supreme commander, so I'll add him in with next update. He breaks of all the green and brown by being grey.  :oh:

"Guys, aim at that grey area over there!"
Thank you!

Get well Karegak, my loyalists need an outing.
