Netted a wee bit of time today to do a test paint scheme.  Not based up proppa yet and I'm a bit wary of the head, but it was relatively fast & easy to do.

C&C appreciated.

So here is what I went into EpiComp '09 with.  Basically, I was shooting for a more realistic looking Gargant versus the popular cartoony representations.

I had planned on adding more krew & riggaz in addition to the novel main gun & bits, but ran out of time.

The whole model was given a zenithal undercoat & weathered with pigments & oils.

Shot of the rear fuel barrels with the one victorious grot with a fuel hose in the drum and the other holding a spanner.  The whole piece is an insert that slides into the rear coaling area of the Gargant.

Excellent work. Choosing between that and Polaris was extremely difficult. I also really love the details on those old Gargants. Those rear details really capture the spirit of what an Ork gargant is in my mind.

Just beautiful. Love the fuel barrels on the back. The gun in his eye and the overal patina is superb. I gotta say I like the belly gun on your stompa too...I always wanted to put one there but couldn't see how to make it look like it was supposed to be there and not an after thought add-on. Now that I've seen yours I know it can be done! Yeah and I admitt too that your open hatch on the wrecking ball stompa is a must! TOO COOL!  :O

This army is coming together really well. The kustom werk is awesome. Raise to dat mekboy dere! Ahem.

WRT to the WIP flak wagon pic in post #7, how did you get the ring on the front wheels so even? Are they offcuts of a tube? If so, what size? Also, how did you emboss the plating? It looks like those parts are .020" sheet, correct?

Thanks in advance.

The rings came from carefully cutting slices off a 5mm dia p-card tube.  I use a straight edge razor because a hobby knife is too wide to get a good cut.

The plating is actually .01 p-card sheet and I use an appropriately sized screw to make the impression rivets on the reverse side showing.  The plate is then tacked on  over the structure of the model.  As a side note, you can do all sorts of fun stuff in reverse on .01 card and it will show up nicely.

Thanks for the compliments guys.
