Trying to bring more dynamism to my Stompa Mobz ala the work of Totgeboren & the Mark Gibbons illustration. They both managed to lose the funny penguin walk that seems natural for the 2.0 Stompa.

Here's the WIP. I think my previous conversions are due for some similar "adjustments". ;D

5-10 per Gargant & a couple conversions could really flesh out a model. The one with the blasta could just as easily have a rivit gun, welder, or drill. ;)

Great work overall. Any hints you can provide on achieving such stunning rust work?

Thanks! :)

As for hints, let me start by saying that the Gargant is at a bit of an unfair advantage for Epic scale weathering because it has so much surface area. A really basic rundown of what I did is as follows:

- Base color
- Pigment washes directed into the recesses of the armor plates & around the rivits.
- Dry pigment applied directly to the model's surface & then "fixed" with turpentine.
- Stipling of dark brown over select areas covered by the previous pigment work.
- Stipling of base color & then metallics over the same areas.
- High points & wear areas (joints, hatches, etc) were touched up in gunmetal & silver.
- Streaks were done with thinned oils.

I'll try to get a walkthrough with pics put together, but it's really just applying traditional military modelling techniques to Epic. Less process tends to work out better with the smaller Epic vehicles, but the Gargant is a special case & you could probably do similar things with other large WE.

A quick note on pigments in general. I pefer to use Prismacolor Nupastel chalks & shave them with a hobby knife to produce pigment dust. Their color range is excellent & you are paying a fraction of what you pay for pre-milled military modelling pigments like Mig, Vallejo, & Warpigs (Forge World). The exception would be the Mig Fantasy Metallics; they are outstanding & better than other metallic pigments I've used.

Runtbot rework in progress.

I'm convinced this sculpt started life as a Stompa and then ended up elsewhere. O0
