WARNING! Stream of consciousness post mostly for one's own benefit follows!

*Sigh* I haven't got any painting done in weeks; Seem to have lost my mojo right now; it's just that I seem to have so much to do! Not in terms of volume but the time things take...does anyone have any good ideas to get me painting again?! I'm sure it's just a case of grabbing a couple of beers and sticking some decent music on each evening but I need a little something to push me forwards...

More my rambling but here's a list for anyone interested:

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Started But Not Finished:

-Mega Gargant
-Eldar Dreadnoughts and War Walkers

Undercoated and Ready to Go

-Imperator
-Leman Russ Company
-Leman Russ Tank Destroyers
-Batch of water cat transports (Incl Troublemaker Games Chimps upon arrival)
-Centaurs
-Piddly amount of 'Modular' bits for Guard army
-Imperial Guard Objectives
-About 20-30 Ork infantry Stands

Assembled and Ready for undercoat

-Big Kult of Speed
-Big Blitz Brigade
-Battlewagons and Battlefort
-Bommer
-8xBig Gunz
-Supa Stompa #3
-Fighta Bommerz

Unnassembled:

-Small batch of metal chaos infantry for Vraks list

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Most of the ork stuff is my own fault; it used to be Goff, but I want it RED!!! So I stripped it all and started again :,-S!

I'm guessing I should just start taking one of those things at a time and work at it that way, makes one feel like they're actually achieveing something but if anyone has any additional tips that would be great. After an article someone posted recently I'm tempted to roll D6 everytime I finish one of the above (2d6 for some projects) and treat myself to something nice for every 6 'points' I accrue but can't figure out what that something might be!

Another part of me thinks I should just put the paintbrushes down for a little while and concentrate on building the gaming board that I've been planning for a while; maybe playing more will make me want to get more stuff painted.

So...if you've read this and want to lend me some words of condolence or even better some help surging forwards with what's left on the painting bench then that would be great, in the meantime I leave you all with a picture of a something rather special that I knocked up these past few weeks; some people will recognise it from a somewhat larger scale piece by someone more well known than me ;-)

Looking fantastic, can't wait to see it painted!!

On the motivation front I have no idea.....maybe playing more is a good start, my rule is to only use fully painted stuff to play, even at the club, and I've mostly stuck to that..... going to our local club and seeing all the guys playing 40k with half-assembled, unpainted stuff really motivates me to only use painted models! I find wanting to start a million projects helps also...

I have the same problem of staying motivated, the last few years I barely painted anything at all. This year I've been trying to be more consistently painting, but even so i have had plenty of weeks where I didn't pick up a brush. Different things work for different people, personally I find that I jump around from project to project frequently, I collect a dozen or more games, so when I start losing inspiration for one I try and pick something new to paint to get me motivated again.

Good luck getting back into it, you have plenty of cool things as options! The diorama you posted is just superb. :)

Good on you for getting started again. I guess you just have to get back into the habit...

Out of interest, what are you using for your vraks infantry?

That's a great little diorama piece with the artillery. Surely that in itself will make you want to paint it? It'll look even more awesome with a lick of paint!

I painted!

-Batch of Siege infantry incl: Fire Support, Robots, Snipers, Grenadiers:

So can cross them off of the list now :-).

They're a bit below my usual standard and up close I can see the difference in quliaty between these and earlier efforts for this army but luckily infantry are small!

Flamethrower troops with commander:
Image

Fire support stands from Exodus Wars line, each with a POINTING MAN...! And some ammo.
Image

Robots: Standing in as Ogryns or well, Robots!
Image

Snipers hiding out in various bits of terrain

Close up comparison shot, perhaps a bit blurry...
