Thanks guys :-).  I'm not exactly too sure what's going on with the camera, none of those pictures were with flash so who knows! My room is painted yellow so i don't think that's helping very much. However, i will take Warhead's advice and see what we can do about it!
I'm pleased with how the bases came out, Major Gilbears hints on making them darker was very useful, although (due to the fact that all my epic forces have a colour shcheme for their bases -green: imperial, brown: aliens, dark grey: chaos) i'll have to keep the green or face messing up the system!  :O
Decided i don't like based vehicles either i'm afraid, and the static grass IS a little fiddly to use at epic scale so i'm gonna save the work  :) , But on infantry it's defintely worth it.

"A crimson (use Scab Red, or even maybe give the Blood Red a very light purple wash"

Now that's an interesting idea...if only i had some purple wash!
Thanks so much for all the positive and critical feedback thus far; it's keeping me on my toes  :agree:

Great to see them coming along so fast!  Really nice look on the bases too IMHO.

Sorry for the bombardment of varied comments MoK. But your stuff is looking great anyway without us interfering so keep on going.

I hardly know what I'm doing with my own camera so I just muck about with taking photo's and try a few things. it's how I learn. Natural light is best but presents it's own problems too from glare. (If I sound like I know what I'm talking about it's because I have a PHD in BS)

So putting on the static grass... I guess unlike flock you don't just glue the base and dunk it in the stuff then? What do you do, tweezer it into place or what?... Yup, I'm that green with some things I've never tried before.

Mageboltrat who used to post on here quite a bit at one time had a Mortifactors SM force, and he based the lot on 2p coins IIRC. You can see his stuff here. I think the round bases look quite nice.

The Dying of The Light

Well; it's nearly sundown over here and my eyes are beginning to ache as not enough light streams through my window; really must invest in that daylight bulb!
So, today I made a little progress with the Razorbacks:
Step 1: Boltgun Metal on all the right parts followed by a generous wash of watered down Black

Step 2: Highlights on the metal with Chainmail and all the red's put in place ready for highlights and inks.

More tomorrow!
YRs,

Ok, so still working on those Razorbacks but I was messing around with my camera earlier so thought i'd bring you some shots of my Harkonen Warhawks inspired Imperial Jump Troopers (used as Storm Troopers obviously :-p), Valkyries and Vultures  that i finished off a month or so ago.

Group Shot

Close up of Infantry

Details on the gunships

The whole lot were painted using drybrushing and a watered down (with meths) MIG productions Dark Wash which i'm very pleased with indeed; i'll be experimenting with it more alongside an airbrush when i get round to doing my Aeronautica Tau.

More pissing around whilst rooting through my wargames cases;

Inquisitorial Gunship in trouble!

And more experimenting with montages

Will have to remember to ad some brass detailing to the chaos bombers engine at some point...Back to the marines!

Here we are then; the day's work; not too keen on how these turned out, no way near as good as the vindicators; especially the red. It's because i watered down the ink this time round...but, hey, another unit done.

I tried to get some dirt on the tanks this time round and that seems to have come up ok.
