Hello folks, I've been trying to get the Shadowsword Mk III assemblied for quiet a while. Try, give up, put aside, try, give up... It's either to low, or to high, and whatever the sponsons just don't fit. ![]() ![]() ![]() What am I overlooking? ![]() |

Have you tried swearing at it?.. I find this helps with all my gluing, cutting and general assembly. When this fails it's time for Mr Hitty Hammer... Where did you get these Shadowswords? Are they E40K? FW? what?.. |

Weeell, obviously this goes far beyond my area of expertise then... I'm all about the cuzzin' an' hammerin' me! I do know that GW seemed to take great delight in providing very badly fitting models for E40K. Even though they did do a very cool looking line of models I could never seem to get any to fit first time either. Funny, but it never seemed to bother the GW staff when putting out books, they never once mentioned just how frightful the fitting of parts was in White Dwarf or in any of their E40K books/magazines. Odd, eh!?. I've never had an E40K Shadowsword that hadn't already been assembled by the time I got it but I do recall having to go to town on all the models with a craft knife. Try fitting the wings to nine Harridans mate, you'd be cuzzin' blue after that. This is the semi-helpful bit of my rant... Try looking at the model for where the fit seems to mismatch. I bet there is too much metal in the join. When/If you spot it cut the little sod's heart out and test the joint before gluing. When gluing do one bit at a time and leave it until it's totally dry. This will take a loooong time. Now that I have patronised you and talked a load of tosh I'm off. I hope it helped. ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() I try, too... but it's always handy have to have it close by for that inevitable 'Basil Faulty' moment when it all just gets too much. |

I managed to find the Dremel instead. But high speed rotation and tin isn't the best of combinations... Looking around for a suitable "routing bit" I spotted a 3" nail. Cut it of and had a four sheer router bit!  ![]() First one is a Mk I/II. Second is Mk III that only has a little shaved of to allow it down between the side sponsons. Third is a Mk III with the whole treatment. A bleeding lot of tin carved away. ![]() |

Third is a Mk III with the whole treatment. A bleeding lot of tin carved away. Yup, all mine look like Number 3 too and I buaght them ready made. Hey, have you been selling these on ebay?!. But high speed rotation and tin isn't the best of combinations... Looking around for a suitable "routing bit" I spotted a 3" nail. Cut it of and had a four sheer router bit! That's just scary mate! I ment cut it with a knife nice and slow until it fits. But it does fit snug unlike number two. What are you going to do with the gap? |

No no no, both are down now.  ![]() And as for routing, I'm fairly used to it, this being my ~12th self-routed track: |
