The Mole Mortar is back!

I've no idea what the Hades Drill will do, but the Mole Mortar / Engineers formation would seem to be a simple thing to add (Base them on Siegemasters Sappers, for a start).

The Hades could destroy 5cm of Fortifications it touches every turn.

Interesting idea, but probably too powerful!

It's obviously a close-combat bunker-buster of some sort, seemingly based on the Centaur chassis?

and would the mole morter ingnore cover???

I don't see the stats from the Skitarii army list as being too far wrong:

Type Infantry
Armour none
Close Combat none (6+ for Death Korps)
Firefight 6+

Weapon : Mole Mortar
Range 30cm
AP5+
Indirect, Ignores Cover, Disrupt

Notes: Mounted

25pts each, most likely as an upgrade for a new 'Engineers' (Sappers) formation.

The Drill looks like a slow vehicle. Move 15cm or 20cm at most. It's to small to destroy whole buildings but is ideal to drill a hole in it so that infantry can easily breach through it.
Perhabs as an upgrade? Doesn't need tohave amodel but the Company is supposed to be equipped with Hades Breaching Drills which bestoves all Infantry units in the formation whith Ignore Cover CC-attacks if itis attacking units in buldings (exspecially including bunkers).

Id make it even slower, say 5-10 cm but allow it to be transported in a Gorgon.  Say 2-3 per gorgon.

I would stick ignore cover in the unit notes and not give it a FF...
Or just +x attacks, ignore cover

Check the Squat and Demiurg list as the mole morters have been playtested and used on those lists for some time. I don't know if their stats differ from list to list but I believe Jaldon and ePilgrim are working to unify their stats.

I just checked the stats in the Demiurg list ; A 45cm (90cm) 1BP attack is much, much more powerful than this little weapon.

This new Mole Mortar is going to be short-ranged, and far less destructive (It's only going to be Strength 5 AFAIK, as compared to a Basilisk's Strength 8 shot... this weapon is sub-thuddgun in power...).

I'm afraid that this new update of the Mole Mortar isn't going to be anything like as powerful as the old Epic Mole Mortars, and I have to follow the Death Korps list's direction in this, not the Epic of fifteen years ago.

The difference can be gotten over by the Death Korps list using the new name 'Mole Launcher' as the weapon name, instead of 'Mole Mortar', that way neither list(s) has to compromise and go against their specific and independent background.

=====

Considering the Death Korps' attacking bias, and a need to make this weapon notably different to the other DK light support guns, I'm thinking perhaps making it a range 30cm AP4+ weapon that has a note of 'No Line of Fire required' like a Deathstrike.

Thus there's no incentive to sustain fire, like with a Thudd Gun or Heavy Mortar.
