The first attempt was, of course,  the Rough Rider captain I made many years ago. Now I tried something a bit more ambitious. I'm starting a new marine chapter but I don't want to put missile launchers to my tac stands to differentiate them from the dev stands. Hence I tried my hand in making a Heavy Bolter marine. Unfortunately the macro of my digicam wasn't quite as good as I remembered.  Also, in spite of my best attempts at lighting I still had to use flash which make s the pic a bit more blurred. :(

Some comments of my own.

-The ammo feed should be about in the middle of the gun but it was a royal pain to get the green stuff ammo belt to attach so that when it finally did I did not dare to move it forward.

-The bolter itself is too blocky and lacks detail; definitely not up to WM Nice standard here. Not even close.

-Sculpting arms in 6mm scale is hazardous to your nerves. Still, the right arm should look OK when painted.

I also made a meltagun marine but that turned out so bad I don't want to post a pic.  :blush:

Those two marines took me almost _two hours_ to make. Considering I'd need about 30 specialist marines for my chapter I'm not sure it's worth the effort. Still, I'm going to try and make a lascannon and a plasma cannon; power cable should be a lot easier (and faster) to do than a flat ammo belt. We'll see.

I like.

Plasma gun marines are easier than melta gun marines.

just a piece of 0.5mm plastic rod on top of the bolter and some green stuff on the front of the gun to give it the curved front.



And here are my atempts at a meltagun and las cannon
