I've pretty much finished my Khorne forces (besides a few recent additions - I added more chosen and obliterators after I discovered they kick arse)
So now its onto Nurgle.
I have painted a little bit of Nurgle previously but never enough to make a 3000pt army or anything.
I have pretty much finished getting all my infantry together and doing a few little conversions on them to create my Icons (made them as standard bearers, I created the banners out of GS on a flat plastic sheet then scraped the GS off when it was dry to glue onto paperclip banner poles).
Using a few Hirst Arts blocks this is the first of two Altar's of Chaos that will be in my army.

I am determined to start actually using Daemons with this army. With my Khorne army I almost never use them because I think they are too expensive for something that doesn't give you another activation. However I am determined to use the daemons for nurgle (even if I do think they are to expensive and not that great - note I am not knocking the list I am sure its just they don't gel so well with my style of play or something).

I originally wanted to have a bunch of logs under the altar with dozens of cultists running around moving the logs from the back to the front. I sort of thought that the effect would kind of be lost in the 6mm scale though so ended up copying the Skaven Shield idea off of one of my previous scratch builds (a Screaming Slave Tower aka counts as Screaming Bell from my Skaven army).

Now I just need to figure out what to do next on the Altar.
Just have to figure out what sort of ropes/chains etc to have the slug beasts pulling the altar with.
I am planning on painting some sort of summoning circle on the top.

Good start for your altar.

I've always thought the WM Skaven Doomwheel would make a good start for a Nurgle Deathwheel for the BL list.

Interesting idea. Is it big enough? I haven't seen much wamaster stuff other than the daemons (which I bought heaps of for Epic proxies as I absolutely hate the old epic daemon models).

Is there a Nurgle Altar? I thought it was strictly a Slaaneshi thing. Pestilence is cool too though....
Audrey did a nice Slaanesh one over on her site.

A link anyone?
In the lost and dammed list you can add a Chaos Altar to any Stigmatus Covenant Coven, which can be deticated to any of the different Chaos factions.
Not sure if their is any mention in the fluff anywhere. But I like the idea of giant slugs pulling along a huge Altar with chaos ritual taking place in the middle of a war zone.

Looks like it will be rather tasty (in a Nurgly way!). Looking forward to seeing more.
