Hey guys,

I did up a test model last night and I'd like to get your opinions and any suggestions you might have for improvement.

Here's how I painted the Termegant:

1. primed white
2. 3 coats of Coat D'arms Vampire Red
3. dry brush Coat D'arms Blood Red
4. carapace painted Coat D'arms Panzer Grey
5. carapace highlighted Coat D'arms Blue Grey (they didn't come out to well in the photo though)
6. wash of Woodland Scenics Earth Colors Liquid Pigment Black

Currently I'm thinking the following:

Paint the Fleshborer a different color (what).
Prime it grey instead of white.
Maybe dry brush after the wash.

Any other suggestions?

Hey Dave, you might investigate GW's foundation mechrite red color. It covers in one coat, which should save some time. If it's too bright, just mix with some dark brown or black.

Looks good, Dave. At the very least I would paint the weapon another color, perhaps bleached bone.

@vanvlak

The whole thing, just the carapace or just the flesh?

@Otterman

I actually don't mind thin paints that need 3 coats, it keeps the details intact.  And working at this scale that's big on my list.

I was aiming for this guy on the far left:

I think a black priming might be in order, instead of gray, but I will try both.

If you can manage, apply differentiated drybrushing.
That is - heavy brushing on the carapace, lighter over the fleshy bits.  :D
