I have a problem. I don't like the old 20x20mm bases, but I have a ton of them. I want to base my armies on something else. What would it be? Who sells bases for Epic, other than the ridiculously expensive GW rectangular bases? Slots is good. I've worked with flat Litko bases with my modern microarmor infantry, and I really like the slots that Epic bases have. Magnetic is good. I use steel washers for my Tau vehicles. They have a slot, but only one per washer ![]() Irregular shape is ok. I'm thinking of a cultist army and irregular squad bases would be ok. |

I've been basing my next army on Litko's bases, 20x40s to be exact. I bought the 0.8mm and the magnetic base bottoms. I taped 10-20 0.8mm bases together and then drilled some 1/4" holes through them. I then stuck them to the magnetic and put the miniatures through the holes. The end result is the top of the miniatures' bases are flush with the top of the plywood. Overall I'd say they look very good. I ended up paying $0.24 a base, which I thought wasn't bad. Your mileage may vary though. As a side note, I have a ton of 10x40s epic bases, if you want to trade one for one for 20x20s let me know. |

I prefer a little more spacing for my 6mm sci fi & decided I wasn't going to keep paying for warmaster bases & went straight to a plastics supplier - I have 1400 24x40x1mm plastic bases now! Should keep my DRM & Epic habits going for a while ![]() With that many, I am, needless to say, happy to pass on some at cost - 10p each if you're in the UK. The Guys at Peter pig (I think) & Magister Militum started stocking the same plastics a while ago to - I think they do the same price also ![]() |

(TuffSkull @ Jul. 31 2007,16:35) QUOTE I have 1400 24x40x1mm plastic bases now! - 10p each I'm not sure what's scarier - that you have 1400 bases waiting for minis, or that you woke up one day and decided to spend ?140 on bases... We clearly take our obsessions seriously at TacComms! ? ![]() Regards, Reaver |

When you put it that way, Reaver, it brings a smile to my face. We may be a niche market but we're a high rollen' niche market. |

(hotwire @ Jul. 31 2007,17:55) QUOTE i want 1401 or nothing ![]() I can probably do that..... ![]() And in all seriousness, I started with 1800 - I rock through bases in this size at the rate of knots with all my work & personal projects. I figured I'd use them up in the end & with GW charging 25p each (& at the time, no other easy suppliers!), it would be worth it in the long run ![]() Combined with selling them to all the new DRM gamers at my local club, and there is hope I'll actually use them all before I turn 100 ![]() |

I think I have enough Epic strip bases for my AM. For anything else ('looser' formation armies), I'm using circular and rectangular game counters from EM4 miniatures. On the rectangular ones: I'd probably switch to Magister Militum bases if I hadn't already started using the counters, and if I wasn't morally opposed to MM and their shoddy, shoddy miniatures. ![]() |

(Dave @ Jul. 31 2007,14:31) QUOTE (asaura summarizes: drill holes through a wooden base and stick it on a magnetic bottom part) The end result is the top of the miniatures' bases are flush with the top of the plywood. Overall I'd say they look very good. I ended up paying $0.24 a base, which I thought wasn't bad. Your mileage may vary though. Capital! Thanks for the idea! I'll experiment with this technique. I have all I need to try this: thin bases from Litko, matching magnetic bottoms and a drill. In the end, paying through the nose or trading for the GW bases is probably easier, since I'm fond of the 12x40 base, but the drilling idea allows for homemade circular slotted bases and so on. |

No problem man, I'll eventually get some pictures up to show you what they look like. I went with 20x40s like i said but also have some 40 circles as well, I think they look good. On a side note, are GWs thin epic bases 12x40? I always thought they were 10x40? |
