Hi all, I'm a big fan of flesh and chestnut washes, and tend to use them in nearly all I do. When I don't end up with a muddy mess I manage to bring about some contrast. Here is an example - not quite Epic scale, although I WILL be using it as Epic terrain - a FW spore chimney, 28mm scale. Here is one of the spikes, in simple yellow and red. |

Here's the washed version. Having crisply moulded detail helps, of course, and drybrushing will later add a degree of shading. |

Nicely done. ![]() I'm fond of those two washes myself, but I've been falling out with inks recently. Too many blotches and tidemarks, and the gloss can be distracting. At the moment I prefer regular paint, with liberal amounts of water, matt glaze medium, and tension breaker. When you get it right it can look very smooth. |

Thanks guys. Vermis - no, they're ordinary paints over a white undercoat. One layer only sunburst yellow from GW, and the red is two layers of a nice scarlet from - arrgh, got a mindblock. Will check at home. |
