Not to thread jack, but another simple version is to cut a strip from a screen door/window and bend around a pen. I like it as it gives the wire actual barbs when you look at it. Finding a screen that's been thrown away isn't really difficult to nab for parts, people are throwing them out all the time.

Did you use a sodium light for the latest batch? They all look pretty yellowey-brown all over and overly sepia (unless that's the idea?)
