ooh, does that mean Chris won't be using those beautifully primed juggers as bikes anymore? That'd be sad. I'd especially miss the explanation of which one's the Lord (pencil scribble on the banner IIRC) ;D

nice bikes too..

Thanks, Matt. As far as I know, the bikes are already in Rob's (robbypk) hands. So, I'm afraid you've probably seen the last of the "x-marks-the-spot" chaos lord. A moment of silence, please. :P

And if your head is spinning with all these updates, hold on for more!

I lament my laziness in not getting him done for epicomp. I am shame.

And finally, back to IG tanks. First, my baneblade company. One of my early-version (SMTL?) didn't have a main turret, so I scratchbuilt one out of a FW baneblade turret (yes, I had the turret and no hull) and a knight laser arm (the baneblade barrel was used to turn a stormsword into a shadowsword). Not exactly pretty, but it'll do:

Much better IMO is the macaroni company. Here it is in different stages of completion:
camo base added

Drybrush of camo and tracks done:

Black wash, additional drybrush, and base done:

EDIT: and that's it until 2011. Happy new year!

It's amazing how that wash just brings everything together. I didn't think those camo colors would work until the last pic...

Somehow I've overlooked this thread. Fantastic work. I'm glad to see you completed the Sentinel with the powerfoot.

Happy new year, all! Time for some more updates.
I'm working on my second two retinues, but they're going to be essentially the same as the first two, so WIP pics would be a waste of time there...
So, some pre-primer pics of more interesting stuff that I'll be getting to soon:

Icon bearer markers. These guys are just the banner bearers with some creative substitutes. They'll sit on the regular bases wherever there's space. Given the fluff surrounding chaos symbols, I apologize for any nausea, tongue-swallowing, and/or insanity if you look at this picture too long :P

Next, some stalkers, just de-imperialized hunters:

And finally (and more interestingly), two full units of termies. I took the standard chaos models and added noise marine blastmasters for autocannons, and added some speakers as well. The lords have extra spikes, icons, and extra speakers.

I'm really impressed by the amount of high-quality conversions and painting that takes place in this thread. I hereby assign you the rank of majorPiett.

The colour scheme of the Macaronis is carried out extremely well. You have a properly wicked sense when it comes to colour choices.

And Powerfoot! In honour of him, I will not nick the idea when it comes to building a Commissar Sentinel of my own. I would rather look at my own and feel miserable instead.

Looking forward to see what colour scheme you come up with for the terminators, The conversions look neat to, I actually really like the GW chaos terminator model and also cut the arms of mine to re postion them to make the stands look less uniformed.

Good work looking forward to future updates

Regards epic

It's hard to see but is Powerfoot's foot actually painted as a blue glowing power weapon?! If so, that's silly awesome!

MoK: ya, its literally painted up as a power foot. It IS a macro weapon :) I'm not sure I like how it turned out - I might try to soften the white with some light blue so it looks less painted-on. Something about taking pics under the hobby store's lights on the canvas drop cloth makes even light-colored models seem too dark. I made a little black/grey sentinel-foot burn pattern on the base, but that's also quite invisible in the pic.

Thanks for the comments, guys. Much appreciated. Wow, a promotion! My outlook on life is getting a little too positive - I'm sure mattthemuppett and/or Dave will be along to take me down a couple notches though, so all will soon be right with the world :P

The units and conversion work... meh. I'm much more interested in the bases. Specifically how you acquired the components for them. Talk more about that.

Re: the photos, the camera is probably darkening the model in response to the light cloth all around it. If you put it in its "spot focus" mode it'll help I bet. On the photos from your place, it just looks like it doesn't know what white balance to use.
