Agreed, nice work. I like it when somebody uses historical paint schemes as inspiration.

And the beginning of my Titan Legion, The War Griffons. I've always loved that grey camo and yellow combination. Pardon the bad pics, my camera seems to be doing some pretty funky stuff.

Nice update with the above minis and awesome hints and tips thanks mate: already using a wet pallette myself (home made version: a few sponges on a plate of water with some greaseproof paper on top. The greaseproof is semi porous and so only allows a small amount of water through via an osmosis like effect based on how 'dry' the top layer is: pretty nifty!

Otherwise all those tips sound pretty good: I too am tempted to go with a lighter scheme and don't know if I can afford that good an airbrush right now but It would be great to be able to get that fine feathered effect that you see on a lot of FW models though, you are right, translating this into 6mm will require some practice: I had a lower quality airbrush for some AI Tau models (now sold) that wasn't quite up to the job.

Although my style is usually quite cartoony this time I will be going for a more natural look too: I'll be using the 'Model Colour' Range from vallejo though your points about the GW foundation paints do sound like a good idea; might be able to use them as an (sprayed on) undercoat infact...perhaps even over a thin white undercoat?

Will have a bit of practice with washes and see what I can achieve also :-)

PS: Keep up the awesome work and expect an army shot soon!
YRs,

I am amazed by how your SWG highlights on yellow works ! Very nice.

The mottled effect on your titans is also pretty good. Thanks for the pics !

It is a time of darkness. Heresy and madness loom on the horizon.

No good will come of this...

Well, I've started on my Vraksian Renegades. First up is a Malcador company and some Valdors. I've decided to paint them up as survivors of previous battles, so various companies will be represented and they should look suitably...chaotic. ::)

The vehicles aimed to the right of the image have their first cuts of detailing on them. The others waiting for their turn. After I get the detailing on all of them, I'll start highlighting and weathering. I'm rather curious to see how the "reds" turn out.

Cheers,
