In other words, a von Neumann machine.

:))   :))   :))

+++ KRAFTWERK PROGRAM ENGAGED +++

+++ THE NECRON IMPERATIVE MUST BE COMPLETED +++

I'm thinking the Wraith looks a bit Edward Scissor hands so the next will have the claw things together instead of splayed and I'll see what that looks like.

Oh, and Happy Halloween tonight guys.   :ghost:

I think there's definately a lot of potential in the wraith, but i'm going to give some constructive criticism because I'm sure you can do better.

The space marine torso doesn't really work; it's just too big really, and the big round shoulderpads don't fit. I'd also make the shoulder plates a bit bigger, and most importantly the claws need to be on the ends of arms rather than coming out of the torso.

Don't take this the wrong way, I'm only offering this because you've shown yourself more than happy to improve upon your work so far, and I've been really impressed by most of it!

Sorry for delay, Halloween patrol with the wee chap. I'm bushed!..

Hey Zombo. No worries. How can I put it... If someone who knows more than you do in a given subject takes the time to tell you something I believe it is listening time...  :)

...you don't always have to agree with what is said but the more info you have on the subject the better your judgement on the matter. (translated short version. I'm no a big wumin! So say on.)

Yup, the shoulders are a mess. Point taken. I'm not sure your right about the SM torso, I'm flipped if I can think of a more suitable (over produced and so available) mini. None of the others IIRC have the hands out or easy to shave face for skullifying. Maybe I can shave the shoulder guards into arms? I fear using greenstuff... looks too technical and I like low tech solutions. (I'm bone idle lazy sometimes - ah, that'll do! mentality).

As a matter of curiosity. What do you think of the Tyranid tail and backbone? I wonder if the reason you don't think the torso works is because the torso is too high up on the tail?..

Edit: Poor Grammar and sentence structure... shameful.

The backbone looks great to me, just about right. I think it's the shoulder pads on the marine that fit least to me, since the shoulder plates of the wraith essentially occupy the same space, so it ends up with two sets of shoulder protectors, which looks a bit weird. Shaving down the shoulder pads would definately help a lot!

Don't get me wrong, the wraith looks good as it is, I just think a couple of alterations could improve it.

My own wraiths are nowhere near the level of detail of yours, but I think they are more proportionately accurate to the 40k ones. Note that I didn't bother with a torso at all, I just had the shoulder plates, arms and head connect directly to the backbone.

If you could get the proportions closer to mine, but with your level of detail they'd be awesome :)

I find it staggering to think those are just bent wire. What can be better than making minis out of nothing and sacrificing nothing to make them. To my mind when I look at your Wraiths the details are filled in by the paint and pose of the models. Truly excellent.
I think my way I have to trade in scale creep for a few extra details. I'll re-post once I have had a go at the shoulders and maybe the arms/claws too. Lots of fiddily bits... *sigh*

Cheers, Zombo.

The Orb is a really good piece now.  :agree:

Hm... What happens if you take your very smallest screwdriver (clock type), heat it over a candle and "de-shape" the "marine" part with it?

Thanks Erik,

Hm... What happens if you take your very smallest screwdriver (clock type), heat it over a candle and "de-shape" the "marine" part with it?

...I have to go upstairs and get a new marine from the box. That's what happens...  :vo  :vD

Ok, I know the other arm is still short (I cut the hand off when first making it so if I don't do that again I think it will work better next time) but is this good enough do you think?..
I used the shoulder guards from the 40K Necrons (easier than it looked to remove) and used them instead of mucking about with card (which I tried but failed to do properly). The Marine has had a shoulder guard-ectomy and I plan to make the short arm longer with something. I do have a plan... I'll use a lump of stuff cut off something and stick it on and shave it. What?.. It's a Great plan.
