Man, I keep seeing all this cool stuff and thinking about home casting...
I don't have the space, or really the time, but it just seems like such a cool part of the hobby.

Can't wait to see the casts out of this, it looks great.

Give it a go sir it can be quite exciting creating your own models. If you want something and no one makes it then you have no choice. Look at me for example a complete novice in this field but already i have viable moulds ready to duplicate my little fort.

Mould number two cracked open and i'm happy with this one to and i just had enough stuff left over to do mould number three. I've ordered another batch of silicon which with luck will arrive tomorrow.

Hi Chris i'm useing Polycraft General Purpose RTV Silicone Rubber GP-3481-F.

Looking forward to receiving my buildings by the way.


Update. Silicone arrived today so mould 4 has now been poured, yah. :)

Well mould number four is done so here's a image of all four together. I just have to wait the recommended time for them to cure and then it all systems go. :)

Should be able to start friday when i get home.

Believe me people my patience is greatly strained. I want to start casting like last week but i must allow the moulds time to cure if i hope to get a reasonable number of casts from them. I've spent quite a bit of money on this project so mileage from the moulds is what i am looking for.

Thanks for the interest everyone. I hope to post the first cast piece this friday sometime.

(apologies for derailing but - painting planned all day tomorrow. First time in more than a month I can work on tiny mans and I'm stuck painting kobolds for a friend)

Ok i'm a day late posting these but better late than never. :)

First piece out of the mould and it's not to shabby, some air bubbles in the usual casting places not unexpected and some of the blemishes remaining on the master model such as joints still show up on the cast in a few areas but nothing i can't live with. So overall i'm fairly pleased with the end result. I cast another five so far with similar results and will be getting on with mould number two today.
